Hi Everyone,

First post here!

This site is very addicting, been reading around a lot and finally joined.

I have a 2011 Jetta SE (black) I try to keep it looking as good as possible all the time. Last summer I purchased ultima products for the exterior detail of my old car (09 Corolla-silver) and thought they did wonders. But now that I own a black car and all swirls are noticeable, I am thinking about better products and a DA polisher.

I know I will never be able to remove all swirls by hand, but here is where I am so far- dont know if anyone thinks spending over $200 will make much of a difference, for now at least. Im not sure if you can see swirls or imprefections from the pictures. There arent many- just the ones that came with the car from the dealer.

Process:
Ultima Wash
Meguiars Clay- with their QD as a lube
It came with a sample of their cleaner wax which I used because it seemed to work better than the Ultima PPP at enhancing gloss, removing some light scratches
Ultima PGP

Applicators:
Foam Pads by hand
MF:
Sonus Der Wunder

Wheels:
Mothers Tire and Wheel Cleaner

Tires:
Ultima TTGP then misted mothers back to black (I like a really deep, wet looking shine and ultima just didnt cut it, even after 3 applications)

Used a lot of OTC products- still need a place an order, just dont know what I want yet.

Any comments/feedback/suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Great job man

Looks like the paint musta been in pretty good shape to start with. Proper washing goes along way

Should have mentioned there were only about 1500 miles on the car at that point.

I just took a trip for work and racked up another 1000 miles so now its time to clean off all the grime and bugs.

Out of "geek" supplies though! Off to pepboys to buy their nicest OTC stuff... anyone have suggestions? Thinking Mothers would be the best option.

Mothers would be a great option. Anyone of their products I've ever purchased has meet or beat my expectations

Now get those freekin bugs off that thing before they etch tha paint. Theres hardly a car I know of harder to correct then a jacked up black VW paint/clear. I think they dip those things in concrete or something...
