I been getting ready to start detailing my car for spring and today I just met my first customer. I went to home depot to buy a lamp for my lighting for my detail garage. I went with a Ryobi xenon Hi-beam. It super bright but it may not be perfect to find swirl mark. I have a sunset Orange 350z.

I went to the rental section of home dopet to see if I could get an electric power wash. I ask the associate to know what type of electric power wash they had. He ask for what purpose and I told him I was going to start my detailing business. He ask me right away to know how to remove swirl mark. I told him how to and what I do. He was very impress on what I told him. He wants me to detail his truck and if he's impress he will connect me with someone that runs a auto body shop.

I am excited and also nervous because this will be my first time detailing a car the autogeek way. I had little practice detailing at work with my flex DA and rotary. I will start with mine first to see what type of results I will get.

I wanted to start my detailing business after I went with Mike for detail boot camp.I really hope I do well with mine first to impress my first customer on my detailing.

My dad had this one saying "always shake a hand and never burn any bridges", you never know when you will meet the person that changes your life

Just be aware of those customers who like to dangle the carrot like that. It sounds like "if you do a bad ass job for a price I like, I may offer a word to a guy who wants cheap labor".

Nevertheless it's good practice. Just do the best you can. Nobody learns by getting everything perfect the first go around. Stick with the Flex if you're not confident yet.

Thank for the advice. I will do my best to impress people. I am not the type of person that is very confident. I am actually the opposite and I lack confidence. The cars I have polish at work come out better before I polish, but I still doubt myself on the quality of work. People trust me when it comes to polishing but I can't trust myself. That is my personality when it comes to myself.

I would like to work on detailing with my spare time. I will still keep my job.

If you want to polish cars as part of learning the detailing business then only offer AIO until you get better with paint correction. An AIO isn't meant to get it perfect and is a good basic package to offer for someone new. The confidence will come when you've done a few dozen cars.
