Today, my favorite guy (the UPS man) dropped off my latest shipment of detailing supplies. The GG ROP was front and center. After pulling it out of the box and admiring the 25 foot cord, I noticed how much heavier it was than my G100/PC7424. It actually caught me by surprise. I guess I figured it would be lighter than my ancient DA. Maybe they should make these in carbon fiber. :dunno:

Oh yeah, its definitely louder, too! I'm off and on with wearing hearing protection while using my G100, but I will certainly be wearing it with the Griot's.

I quite like the weight...it does some of the work for you. I have no problem handling my GG ROP at all. Mine doesn't seem loud at all either...not louder than my drill anyways??

I'm sure I'll get use to it, but I was surprised by the weight. I have a Tacoma DoubleCab scheduled tomorrow I'll get to test it out on.

As far as the loudness, I was comparing it to the G100.

Never used the G100..but I think you'll find it a very nice and easy tool to use, I love mine :)

Although I MUST say, I will be upgrading to a Flex eventually. I'm using this as my "versatile" polisher (because you can choose different pad sizes such as 4", etc)

Yeah, I'm looking forward to using it.

I had a Flex and sold it last year. I liked it, but IMO a good DA can give the same results. I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be.

The G100 is going to be my dedicated buffer for 3.5 and 4 inch pads. No more having to change out backing plates.

Hi Colin,

Now that you have had your Griots polisher for a little while, how do you like it compared to your G100? I also have the G100 and I'm polishing out a car for a friend with paint that is in pretty sad shape. I'm using my G100 and it just seems like it is taking forever.:buffing:

Do you think the Griots is much faster at removing defects than the G100? I'm curious to hear your thoughts on how the two compare.

Thanks. :xyxthumbs:

Can't compare them as I haven't used the Megs, but being that it has almost twice the power I would have to think yes

Having said that, I had a dark blue BMW yesterday that the clear coat was as hard as Chinese Arithmetic. I started with the Griots, but was not getting where I wanted to be, so I grabbed the ratary and knocked out 95% of those nasty RIDs with the quickness. It was 106 degrees and I just didn't feel like playing around with my DA Im the MAN

106? I would have grabbed a beer and called it a day. Screw polishing! :buffing:

I don't drink alcohol, but I did go through 4 quarts of frozen/slushy Gatorade. I also had to change t-shirts 4 times. Today, so far I am only @ 2 quarts and 2 t-shirts :help:

What are these words you have used "called it a day"? I have never heard of this term :dunno:

I like the Griots, but the weight took some getting use to. It will certainly remove defects faster than the ol' G100. I'm glad I bought it and hope it gives me years of service like the G100 has.

Good to hear.

I was going back and forth trying to decide between the Griots and the PC7424XP. I ended up choosing the PC. It just arrived the other day. Looking forward to try it out :D

Thanks Colin :xyxthumbs:

I started off with a good ole Rotorary and have used it for years! I Just recently switched over to the GG da and couldn't be any happier.
So as far as weight goes it's wonderful (to me). Able to use it with 1 hand makes it a wonder to work with and the adjustable handle is a MUST!
Good buy and what makes it better is the LT warranty

Coming from a rotary, I can see how the weight it nice for you. Glad to hear you like it. It is quite the machine and I hope it gives me as much joy as the trusty G100 has.
