Were I work on a car I will not have 5 ft behind me to stick a Halogen stand which would be killer but just not feasible.

Brinkmann Swirl Finder Light, Brinkmann Maxfire Dual Xenon Rechargeable Spotlight

I was looking at this light and I have heard good things. They also sell a Dual light which I am not sure I "need" this is for a personal use/hobby thing.

This is perfect. If money is not an issue then the 3m Sun Gun is also a great option.

Got one when AG first started carrying them, it works great.

It's a great flashlight, works fantastic when detailing cars and I have also found it a great fill light for photography.

I know there are now newer versions. Pick one and buy it, you won't be disappointed.

My garage looks like Wrigley Field with all my halogen stands. The Brinkmann is my go to light. It works fantastic. The halogens just make the garage 8000 degrees hotter than it needs to be. They are good for overall lighting. Remember, imperfections will hide under different lights. Sunlight will reveal almost everything so put the car in the sun to see what spots you missed. Bottom line, Brinkmann is affordable and it works!

Very handy light you will not be disappointed, priced well too.

Before I put in ANOTHER order to Autogeek (lol), is there anywhere local that I can pick this light up...or maybe a light that is similar and will give decent results?

I need to get one by Thursday because I will be doing an evening detail and wont have room for my halogens.

Thanks! :)

I had heard that Bass Pro Shops may carry them as well as Cabelas if you have one near you. WalMart has them online but maybe you can check if your local store may have them in stock. In a pinch, I sometimes use a full size Mag Light. Not perfect but may help a little.

Bass Pro Shop...brilliant. I'll check with them.

I didn't see one last time I was in Wal-Mart, but I'll check a couple other ones around me as well.

Thanks! :)

Thats a great Suggestion too, I will double chk there next time I get a chance. Appreciate all the feedback!

I keep my Brinkman in the trunk with the lighter plug in case of a flat or breakdown. Just plug that sucker into the trunk outlet, lock the trigger in the ON position, and you've got virtual daylight! LOL

The Brinkman is ok for 30 bucks, but if you want a great flashlight get the Fenix TK11 for 70 bucks. Tested the Brinkman next to the Fenix and the Fenix is much brighter and the light is white. The Brinkman was yellow in color, but for 30 bucks you can't go wrong.

Picked up my Brinkman at Academy last night for 25 bucks.

I'm not sure about yours, but my light is absolutely white. Not a yellow tint at all.

Rsurfer have you ever used your fenix on silver cars ? Can you rely solely on your fenix for swirl and watermark spotting ?

In some cases yes, but in most cases no. You just can't beat the sun. If you are in the shade it shows up much better, but in the sun it's difficult to spot especially on light colors. BTW I do like the Brinkman, I have 3 of them.

I use my Brinkmann Xenon and LED lights ALL the time, for way more than just detailing. Love 'em!

I recently dropped the brinkmann and broke it and it really didn't matter because overtime i noticed that it didn't hold a charge for very long anyway. i broke out a brand new spare that i had, and it doesn't even charge and is basically worthless now (i've had it for over a year brand new in the plastic and it was over the one year warranty). i'm not going to buy another one and am looking for a new light source. i'm looking into getting a Fenix LD20 R4 tactical light as many others on some other boards recommend and love them...

someone else recommended this one as well, thanks for the input...

I've had nothing but good luck with these lights ever since Joe aka Superior Shine introduced me to them back in 2005. Just a few weeks ago I had my headlights go out in my truck when I was driving home at night and just happened to have two of them in the Jockey Box and with a little work I was able to affix them to my front bumper and then drive home with the road completely lit up.

I don't leave home without one...

Can't even begin to describe how many people I've shared them with over the last 5-6 years let alone just the last week during our trip to Texas. It was fun showing the guys at Operation Comfort how it works and why we use them and even the people in the TV industry of which pretty much none of them had ever seen a flashlight like this nor knew how it's used in our idustry...

I've had nothing but great luck with mine... I have used them so much that the battery does wear out but that just means I've gotten my money's worth out of the light because it's always taken years to wear one out... not months...

I see all kinds of different lights offered up as other options but when it comes to the best bang for the buck in my opinion the Brinkmann Swirl Finder Light can't be beat...

Brinkman Maxfire Dual Xenon Rechargeable Spotlight

Great gifts too... in fact when I was at the GTG in San Antonio I had a chance to meet Jessica aka 87rx7chick and a chance to see her RX7 and I just happened to have packed my personal Brinkmann Swirl Finder Light with me in my suitcase so when I went to the GTG I took it along.

I asked Jessica if I could check out her paint with it and she said "yes" so I did and I'm proud to say the paint on her car was flawless under the light... I asked her if she had a Swirl Finder Light and she said "not yet" so I gave her mine...

Here's one thread from Jessica and her car...

So while some might not have had the great luck I've had with all of mine over the years, I have nothing but good things to say about them...

Reminds me... I need to buy a new one to replace the one I gave away...

If you're going to SEMA be sure to swing by the Autogeek booth as we'll have plenty of Brinkmann Swirl Finder Lights on hand to test out...

:)
