I got zurich shield on a brand new car I picked up a day after it came off the truck with 6 miles on it. I saw it when it still had the stickers for protection on it then bought it the next night. Drove it home and brought back the next day to have the sealant installed. A few days later I went to remove a bug spatter and found scratches around the badge and swirl marks on the hood, one is huge.

I talked to the company that makes the sealant to see if the swirl marks could be on top of that and if not how to strip it off to fix the issue. The guy was actually very informative and I got a much better reply then expected. He said the swirl marks would be on the paint under the sealant and to have the dealer fix it. I then asked what I could use to strip the sealant, so I could either attempt to fix the swirls after practice on another car with da polisher or pay a professional. He said anything that would strip the coating would be too harsh to the clear coat so just take it to the dealer. Is this true? I doubt it's a magic product and works the same way as opticoat. Any suggestions? If they can't wash a car without damage, his could they fix it?

Also there are 3 scratches on the clear plastic over the speedometer, any suggestions to fix that or is it impossible?

I'm not new to taking care of a car but never looked far enough into it until now. Always just hand washed and waxed with good stuff, never came across polishing and sealants and such, don't know why not. I guess I bought the wrong car magazines. ....

You are exactly correct, do not let the dealer do any more damage. Let the dealer know that you are dissatisfied and that you want a competent detailer fix all the issues. Make sure to thoroughly inspect the whole car. If you see swirls on the hood, you will see them elsewhere as well. Btw, not familiar with that sealant.

Where are you located and how much did you pay for the sealant?

Jackson, mi and thanks that is what I'm going to ask for, the predicament is the sealant has a 5 year warranty so the dealer will probably say they have to apply it. It covers stains in the interior too. After further research it's a warranty company but I did talk to the National trainer of the sealant producer and he is the one that said anything to strip it would be too harsh on the paint. I think it was api but I'd have to check my email at work. Was 700 but I thought it covered rock chips too, but it does not. I got 5 of those the first week from a truck that got on the highway and threw stones all over :( Had a clear sticker kit to try ordered but came 2 days too late. Haven't put on yet since there are issues with the paint.

I think there are water spots under it too. I washed it last night which left water spots but then used almost a whole bottle of chemical guys eco smart waterless wash. Then waxed it with a hex logic black pad and Meguir ultimate which I removed by hand. The outline of the water spots is still there. Did the 2 bucket wash with grit guard in the rinse too.

The product is likely more of a coating nature which most can't be chemically stripped like the rep told you. They typically can only be removed mechanically like compounding/polishing. I would find a reputable detailer in the area and tell the dealership you want them to correct the paint, then have the dealer re-install the coating.

One reason I tell all my friends to never get the dealer offered sealant, but they see the free dent removal, interior stain removal, etc that comes with the program and they do it anyway. I tell them if they come to me for regular details, I'll do small one-off stain removals and spot buff outs for no charge too. I don't have any answer for the dent removal though, but PDR for one small dent around here is less than $100.

Thanks, I should have known better but had never heard of a sealant that lasted even a year so I made a rash decision and then afterwards found out about things like opticoat. The rep said it sealed the Microscopic pores but not what it was. Automotive protection systems, Inc or api is the company that makes it but he said they don't have a consumer version.
