I should've posted this sooner but I'm curious if anyone is interested in coming out this year?

I'm planning on going Oct 5th (Sunday) through Oct 9th (Thursday). I'll be staying at Dragon City in Maryville TN (intersection of 129 & 72). Questions...ask away

Would love to make it out but it’s a 3-5 day drive. 2600 miles. I would say have a blast but you always seem too.

Ohhhh.......

That would be a great trip. Unfortunately those dates won't work for me. I'll be out of state the following week and can't take that much vacation. Have a great time!

For those that haven't been, this is definitely a road you have to hit if you love the curvy stuff. Not only is the TOD awesome, the roads surrounding it are amazing, like the BRP and the Cherohala Skyway. Rubber eating roads surrounded by one of God's masterpieces.

I've heard of that road but have never been on it. That said, we did drive to "The Snake", border of VA/Tenn, road right next to Bristol Speedway and wasn't impressed one bit

Also Moonshiners aka route 28, Foothills Parkway and even route 360 on into Tellico Plaines the back way

My Dad and I have been doing the Trans America Trail in my truck. We've started in Nags Head, NC - followed the trail thru NC, VA, WV, back into VA to where we have currently left off in North Carolina near Morganton, NC. The Back of the Dragon was was part of the trail for a couple of miles and we decided to follow it the rest of the way. They call the overlook on the Back of the Dragon the "Million Dollar View" and it is pretty close to the truth - picture below.

In a massive 5,800lb truck a lot of roads may seem pretty exciting that would be a snooze in our cars. That trunk weighs TWICE what my car does plus 200lbs more! Wow... Add to the fact it's 20ft long and has a really high center of gravity, I'm sure any mildly twisty road can be quite an adventure.

I looked at The Snake on a map and the stretch from Holston Valley, TN to Mountain City, TN could be entertaining, but it's only a little over 20 miles.

You know, big girls like to dance too. I used to have a lot of fun with my ML on twisty roads, its really not a good afternoon for someone in a Corvette or a Porsche when a big Suv stomps them in the corners. It was fun to get them to ride my rear into a corner, then suck them into a speed they were very uncomfortable taking a turn. If you do the math at corner speeds for something at .85g vs .95g, the difference is surprisingly small, especially at TOD speeds.

When my buddy bought into this franchise he flew down to North Carolina to pick up his van, I suggest a detour back to Chicago...he did it! The 2nd pic is from a week and a half ago

I'm glad you still go Roger!

There is a 4.2 mile road I have to drive to get back and forth to my mother's assisted living place.
I call it the "Mini Dragon"... lots of turns, a handful of them are switchbacks even.

I usually find it funny most cars can't keep up with me on it... and I'm in the F250!!!
