Tail of the Dragon gets a cool overlap

Well looks like Tail of the Dragon will get a very cool scheduled weekend in June, BanditRun '26 is planned for this region this time.

As cool as it would be to see all those Trans Am's in one place (I had to look up what BanditRun was...), it would also make me keep as far away from the Dragon as possible during that time. If I'm going to travel all that way to drive the Dragon, I wouldn't want to deal with all the extra traffic clogging up those spectacular roads.

I'd also be cautious about the safety of driving those roads with huge event crowds in the area. Any event of that type these days, regardless of type of vehicle/culture seems to lower the collective IQ and raise the ego the larger the numbers of participants get. Combine that with twisty, narrow, technical roads? Yikes. Some huge parking lot at a stadium in a major city would an awesome venue.

Wouldn't be an issue with this bunch, I know a number of them. They love their cars and don't push them hard ever. Most observers would wonder why they are driving so slow and not hard when they are there. It's about the cruise for them, and the friendship and fun weekend.

That's really good to hear a corner of our auto enthusiast world exists where maturity and responsibility can be found when large numbers get together. I'd really hate to see one of those beautiful cars getting fished out of the trees after the owner overcooked a turn or hear of tons of arrests from people drag racing on local streets.

BanditRun has been going on quite a few years, I don't think there has ever been an incident. Craziest stuff are hotel parking lot repairs from roadside breakdowns where the repairs were done that a shop would have taken days. There'll be some great photos taken with this country backdrop.
