Tampico brush for Leather?

Does anybody use this one for their leather?

I bought it for my convertible top but after reading this thread I thought I would start using it on the leather as well. My Lexol says to use warm damp wash cloths but it looks like people use brushes? Is the brush only used for very dirty leather? I keep my leather clean. Any comments or suggestions?

Using a brush on leather is a great idea. It's the way I clean my leather.

I'm not sure if the brush you linked would be suitable for leather as it doesn't mention leather on the info page and looks like the bristles would be a bit stiff. Because leather has pores and folds, you need a brush to remove the dirt from these as a microfiber can't really reach there. It also allows you to work then cleaner in a bit better as the brush doesn't absorb any, it just spreads it around while providing an agitating motion.

Vinyl & Leather Scrub Brush (<-- This one is like the brush I have, I would recommend it as it's small enough to maneuver).


Get a leather brush, you'll be glad you did.

Yea, I noticed that but I thought maybe they were beaten a bit to make them softer or something because they don't mention Leather on the original one.

Would you say the original one is safe?
 
How soft is the brush ?? Do you feel it could effect the coating on automotive leather ?? I really have not explored using a brush on leather unless dirty or spotted.
 
It feels a bit stiff to me to be brushing leather but to me it doesn't feel natural to brush leather unless like you say it's very dirty. From what I've been reading though I should be brushing after all. Doesn't it seem like this would wear down the coating over time?
 
I don't think it would wear down the coating. If you think about how tough it's gotta be to stand up to the wear and tear of your clothes always rubbing against it, a semi soft brush every time you clean it will be fine.

I think the abrasiveness of the dirt that stays in the pores and grain when you don't use a brush would be more dangerous than a brush.

As for the brush you have, I don't know if that would be safe as it doesn't say for use on leather on it's webpage.
