I tried Solution Finish on the bed and tailgate caps on my 2002 Ford F250, it worked kinda OK for a little bit. I was probably expecting SF to do something it's not really designed to do though, these caps seem to be naturally dark gray instead of black. SF is awesome at making stuff that was black black again, but turning gray black isn't what it was made for.

So after seeing some long term testing on ScottHD's Youtube channel of trim restorers I decided to try That Black Stuff. He's got a gray panel and TBS seems to be holding up well and turned the gray to black. Initial impressions are pretty good, but seems to have maybe gone to a way darker gray, I'll let it cure and see. It's also very flat, so that also makes it look gray.

Which is where I finally get to the danged point..... anyone ever put a ceramic topper on That Black Stuff to kinda brighten it up??

Solution finish also has a Grey option you can look into.

Someone might have tried the combo of That Black Stuff with ceramic over it but I’d be worried about bonding issues. I know folks have put ceramic over solution finish with good results. Are the parts faded or are you just looking to ‘dress’ them for pretty sake and protect?

I used Gyeon Q2 Trim on the black trim on my MINI with good results. If you’re just looking for protection and a little visual pop, the Trim, CarPro DLux, or maybe Cerakote wipes might be just what you’re look for.

FWIW:
The manufacturer recommends to allow
‘T.B.S.’ to cure for seven (7) days, before
applying the “topper” of your choosing.

Yes, I know. I don't want gray, never said I wanted gray.

You won’t get far with this attitude on this forum. Just saying.

I’ll play your game though lol. That black stuff is not sold by Autogeek and it is against the forum rules to speak about products not sold by Autogeek. Best to reach out to the manufacturer to answer tour question.

Bless his heart!
