The 50-60 int/ext CL detailer

As we know...these guys are everywhere and are gone just as fast as they come about.
I was bored today so I emailed a guy about his 50-60 full int/ext for SUV's.
I said I have a 2001 White Expedition that's never been waxed.
He confirmed that yes it's only 50 bucks and he'll have it done in 1 hour 45 minutes,maybe 2.
I'm still thinking of other questions besides the time it takes. But wow! Thats a quick int/ext on a large suv lol
 
I see lol. Well I had told him "it has white paint and there's all these red rust looking spots all over it,is this what the clay bar service that others advertise fix?"
He said no,if you really want it removed he'd have to buff it.
 
I too am curious as to what this 2 hours will entail...

Example

Exterior - Probably a wash, clay, dry, spray wax, clean glass....
Interior - Vacuum, clean dash, doors, and vinyl sections, clean glass

I probably could do this in 2 hours but it's very basic and I'd be hauling ass I'll tell ya!
 
Now to the interior...he said no shampooing. No shampooer yet but "i can do something to make the carpet look nice"
Ok...understandable ...it's only 50.00. And I'm assuming he'd use some sort of OTC foaming carpet cleaner.
I'm waiting for his response how much extra to clay and buff my "rust looking spots"

For $50 I'm sure it's a very basic interior vacuum and wipe down and I'd be surprised if he's using any interior protectant.

I am curious to see how he's handling those rust looking spots....:laughing:

I just hope he's not the guy washing his green Grand AM.....:eek:

Add $15 to clay and buff my "imaginary expedition with rust spots" lol
 
I kindly thanked him for his time and advised I'd "get back to him after doing more shopping around"
 
Don't you think that's kind of mean spirited? Your waisting his time pricing his services, when you have no intention of hiring him. Then you use his response to make fun of him on a message board. It's Sunday, it's a holiday weekend, maybe he has other things to do with his time. Maybe he's excited / happy because he really needs 50 bucks - and your at the other end of the computer yanking his chain. Maybe he does excellent work? Who knows? I'm just wondering what the point of you contacting him was. Does it make you feel good because you can do 3 step corrections using top of the line products and boutique wax and he uses Turtle Wax and a dirty rag? You could always Email him back and ask him if he he prefers DAT or SMAT polishes, then when he can't answer, - you can come back on here and call him an asshole. Maybe he's not "passionate" about detailing cars but has limited skills and experience and is trying to earn a couple bucks. At least he's not robbing anyone and looking for a handout. WTF?
 
My main point of contact reason as follows...
to start evaluating other "detailers" in my area and I want to know what they're including in their "full service" details so I will have a response when a potential client of mine says "well so and so does a full int/ext for 50". Knowing what that person is offering gives me a response to keep my client. There's your WTF . I'm not one for forum fighting so this will be all I have to say to that.
