Another thread had me curious. In your detailing life, what in your opinion is the best product you ever used. Could be relative to the time it came out or current. For simplicity lets avoid mechanical items and tools and stick with applications.

Whether it’s the present day, or the past:
Go ahead...Name the detailing task;
Meguiar’s has always had the products
that I can best describe as ”kick-ass”!

{IMO: That’s the reason why they
have been around since 1901...}

I am going to have to say, Sonax PNS. I think for the price, and protection, it is a true bang for the buck product that still over delivers results.

And DURAGLOSS #253. I have used them all over the years, and nothing makes a tire look better. And NEVER SLINGS! This applied with a flagged tip brush, just works! :props:

ONR, this for me created a multipurpose, time saving space saving dillutable liquid of joy. No more separate detail spray, drying aid,glass cleaner, interior light clean up spray and clay lube. Of course now I use other rinsless products but ONR was the first I tried or heard of and really helped me, it'll always have a special place in my heart

Edited: Whoops, didn’t read thread throughly. I’d say pads are in the tools/mechanical category:

3M foam pads circa late 90’s-2000’s

When I was first learning to use my Dewalt rotary I was advised to stay away from wool pads and go with foam. 3M Perfect-It pads, compounds, and polishes produced some great results for me in the late 90’s through early 2000’s. I do remember going outside and seeing some of my own induced holograms on dark paint:( It bugged me then, knowing it wasn’t perfect.

I’ll try again:)

I would say my favorite/best/most used interior product is Meguiar’s Quik interior detailer. Easy to use, versatile, and gives me the perfect finish on dashes and interior plastics. Only complaint is when buying in gallons the smell isn’t the greatest.

Never tried ONR, but Meguiar’s discontinued D114 was an eye opener for me for all the same reasons you listed.

I have two:

HD (or) 3D Speed. I never have much correction to do as I baby my paint and use the best wash techniques. (Learned here).

I can spend a nice spring day and machine apply Speed in about 4 hours. And nothing makes my metallic gray paint "pop" like Speed does. And the slickness is insane. I have tried many other light polishes, but always go back to my trusty Speed.

Second one, and not a machine so I think it qualifies...... Is the Griot's PFM drying towel. Absolute game changer for me after being mostly unhappy with all other drying towels I had ever tried.

ONE swipe on a section of my huge hood, and all the water is gone, period. SO cool, and an incredible time saver.

I also bought two 16x16 PFM's for my wheels. No more streaks on the chrome when drying!!

Probably the 550 Everest. But to answer a different question: the product that makes me the happiest to use right now is Bead Maker. Never gives me trouble, smells great, terrific results.

:iagree:

The PFM's are so addictive they should be on the "controlled substance" list. I now have (5) of them for drying the SUV ... (1) of the 25x35, (2) of the 20x28 (w/blue border) and (2) of the 16x16's. I usually use one of each when drying the car, wanted some extras so I didn't wear them out too fast. :laughing:

I've also bought (8) of the polish removal PFM's (green/blue) - the ones that used to be $5.95 for a 2pk in the AG outlet. Got them during 25% sales so $4.46 for (2) was an awesome deal. As advertised, they cut through polish and sealant "like a hot knife through butter".

Liquid Glass from the 1980s.
It was the first “enthusiast” polish/wax that completely surpassed Turtle Wax, Rain Dance and Blue Coral Polysealant

... Blue Coral Polysealant

Speaking of Blue Coral, ever hear of their AutoFom sealant from the early 90's ? That stuff was insane ... crazy good protection but a bear to buff off. They advertised on TV that the main ingredient was the same as what was applied to the space shuttle's tiles to protect it on re-entry.

I don't ever remember hearing something this ridiculous........... Lol

Collinite 845. Easy to use, extremely durable, looks great and protects very well.

Griots speed shine was the first product that blew my mind. Replaced by Ech20....
