The Coyote at 2018 Detail Fest aka Manta Montage

This is a Coyote, a car that started out as a Manta Montage and was then customized to become the Coyote for the TV show, Hardcastle and McCormick.

This particular Coyote belongs to local car enthusiast and friend of Autogeek, David Dearth. David fell in love with the Coyote while watching Hardcastle and McCormick at the age of 10. Since then he has owned 4 junked out Coyotes (less than 500 were built), saving the best parts for the one you see in the above picture. Just 2 years ago this car was still in boxes in a barn.

Hardcastle and McCormick

Brian Keith played Judge Miton C. Hardcastle and Daniel Hugh Kelly played Mark 'Skid' McCormick

The storyline was based on a retired judge Milton C. Hardcastle in Los Angeles. Mark McCormick, a racing motorist, convicted for robbery, was Hardcastles last case. McCormick was set under supervision of Hardcastle and they start to inspect two hundred cases that were never closed totally during Miltons judgeship.

The Coyote used in the show
The first Coyote was built from a Manta Montage kit car; the second (used later in the series) was built from a DeLorean DMC-12. Reportedly the car was changed because the two men had a difficult time getting in and out of, as well as sitting in, the kit car.

Here's the intro for the show...

Here's a chase scene...

As they use to say on TV... stay tuned...

:)

I loved this show when I was a kid, even had a toy car with a McCormick action figure.

That made me laugh Mike, thanks!

Even though it's not related, I was thinking of the therapist, Dr. Swanson in the movie Office Space and he's talking to Peter Gibbons and Peter is describing how horrible his life is....

Dr. Swanson talks him down, way down, deeper and deeper...

Has nothing to do with you.... just the thought that came into my mind....
