What is the difference between a Quick Wax and a Quick detailer?

And is one used vs the other?

It seems to me that there is no real difference.

One is a spray wax and one is a detail spray for clay baring.

Over here, quick detailer doesn't tend to mean a spray for use with clay, it is simply a quick use product for using at the likes of shows or just as something you can use to finish your routine wash.

A quick wax... well some quick detailers are quick waxes. This is an area where the terminology is not enormously clear. In theory a quick wax should contain wax, but not all actually do (some are sealant type products instead). A quick detailer could well be a wax containing product, it could be a sealant type product or it might contain neither and simply be for removing very light soiling.

So basically, there is no definitive answer!

a detail spray for clay baring.
In my experience...

Detail Sprays...labeled Quick/Quik, or otherwise, are used:

-Per Mike Phillips' post (#3)
-Clay 'lubes' (as you've mentioned)
-Waterless Wash(es)

-And, as some folks say: Spray onto a wet-vehicle to help reduce: Water-spots...
Also as: "Drying-aids". In these regards:

Is DG's Aquawax a: (Quick)Detailer Spray, a Quick Wax...Or both?

Ingredients...From DG #951-952 MSDS (Is there any wax in it, or not? Does it really matter?)

-ALCOHOL(PROPYL)
-SURFACTANT
-POLYAMINODIMETHYL SILOXANE
-FRAGRANCE

Except for the difference, ofttimes, in price-points...:iagree:

There is no wax stated Bob. The siloxane is a silicone of one form or another, claiming to be an amino so is not simply a glaze and should at least give some short term durability.

That said there is certainly no obligation to divulge all ingredients (here in EU) and, looking at numerous US formatted sheets, the same appears to be true for you lads. Typically one only requires only to state hazardous ingredients present above certain limits. Most of the waxes I can think of would not come into that description so could be omitted. So it looks like there is no wax but that is no guarantee!

Maybe they should change the name to Aquapolyaminodimethylsiloxane ?

:)

The point to remember here is that this sort of thing is quite normal. Manufacturers give away only as much compositional information as is required and will often sell a product in whichever way is possible. There is no point getting worked up about it really.
