Mothers boyfriend calls me up, lets go look at Vettes this weekend.
Me: "why do I need to look at Vettes??"
Him: "well its the ZO6"
Me: "well the neighbor down the street has one, you can come stare at his car" :D
Him: "I'll be buying one....smartass" :p
Me: "ohhhhh, does the Sneaky Pete scare the little boy?" :D

Viper is too raw and mean for him, he wants something more comfortable...he's driven our ACR, guess it scared him hehehe. He'd rather a convertable...so I told him the ZO6 comes with a detachable roof standard LOL.

roof panel is fixed in Z06 ... sorry ! And clearly the Z06 is the better choice for real drivers. None piling up on dealers lots, still markups, and great for all round weather. Them Vipers are seriously discounted and my guess is if new HP does spur sales it is gone by 2010 ~

They are both fun cars. I still perfer the old Viper style. It had much better lines. Everyone has different opinions and tastes so I don't think there is a clear better choice. I like them both.

I have been considering getting another car and it's between a Porsche Turbo, Porsche GT3 or a Z06. Of the Vette, Viper and Porsche I think the vette has the best looking exterior but it's a very common car you see all the time. The only problem with the Z06 is that it looks to much like a regular vette. Around my house you see a vette almost every block when driving. Just in the little block where I live there are 10 houses if you include both sides of the street and the end of the block. There are 5 vettes owned by 5 different people. It's still a great looking car and a h*ll of a car for the money.

I hope they change the Viper's body style in the near future. When they do I would definitely consider one. I purchased my 2002 Viper in 2003 after they changed the body style. I was fortunate to find a dealer that had a new 02 Viper that had never been out of the showroom at a great price when I purchased it.

If only the Z's would stop blowing engines in track races:D. Real drivers don't need no stinking traction control, anti roll, yaw, or stability...heheh, we want steering wheel, pedals, and shifter :D......still liked the Z though on the track, but still didn't have the direct feel our snake does or that "special" thing driving it, just so raw, thats whats big to me as I was raised around racing....I'm pry one of the few that finds the new turbo 997 to be a complete bore, it'll put you to sleep driving it.

Gary - Black GT3-RS with orange trim or I'll smack you. Yeh the new style is nice, not like old, but when lowered on nice meats damn it looks wicked.

Surfer, It will be hard to fall a sleep in the new 997 Turbo doing 0-60 in 3.2 secs.

Neighbor got rid of his red one after about a month or two, Champion resold it....only the auto will launch that quick...the overally power for some reason doesn't seem that different from teh 996tt, it's barely trapping higher then the 996tt though it rips down low on the launch. Its just borring to drive to me, too refined, our old 993tt was a blast....996 came out and we didn't even bother buying any. Now the GT3 and RS on the other hand, on a total nother level from the TT, the sound, the feel etc blows away the turbo.

Did you run with your friend in the PCA group couple weeks ago?

Your not that old yet, you'll tolerate a GT3-RS :D

I had a chance to drive an 07 turbo about 6 weeks ago and I really enjoyed it. That's not to say that I don't like the GT3. My friend and I took his 930 and one of his 928's up to Sebring back in April. We had a good time and there were a lot of great cars there. There was a guy there with an Audi R8 with 3 mechanics. Wow, that must really be nice. Another guy had an F40 and blew the engine. Nothing like an expensive day at the track. There were a lot of Porsches. The majority of cars were faster then my friend's cars but we had a great time and got in a lot of track time. I just took it kind of easy. It was also a lot of fun to go and see all the cars and talk to people.

Sebring is a lot of fun, especially on fun days when anybody can run what they brung with no class restrictions, P-cars, Vipers, Vettes, Ferraris etc go at it. Couple TT Viper guys will run out there, ballistic missiles on the track, their nutz lol. Not that many Lambo's ever show though, every once in awhile Gallardos will pop up, but rarely any Murci etc.

Really love the Ford GT though, sooooo sexy, and drives incredibly rock solid, have driven on the street but not track, they rip on the track though. Sounds like a bat outta hell when modded....my heart says yes, my bank account says no...for now...lol. 997TT just seems borring to me, just not exciting, I consider it more of a high speed sporty GT car, just does everything well, not a bad car...just doesn't half of that aural feel the GT3 does.

Willow is another excellent and tough track, V.I.R. as well. Turn 9 of Willow bit me one time, that is a scary turn at high speed....I was in the prepped 80' SC P-car and hit teh edge causing the rear to step out grip and send me flying at high speed b/c it happens so fast.....definitley felt the butthole pucker on that one:eek:..turn 9 on Willow is like riding a crotch rocket on the street, eventually, your gonna eat it.

I have never been to Willow. I know there's a Willow Spring Raceway in CA. Is that the track your talking about?

In July there's an event in Homestead my friend want's me to go to. I have never driven on the Homestead track but my friend has. He did a Skip Barber Racing School there and also Panoz at Sebring. I have done the Panoz School at Sebring twice. My friend also races go carts with his son in Punta Gorda. His son knows more about cars then any little kid I have ever talked to.

I don't care that much for a Ford GT. One of my neighbor's has a Blue Ford GT. Not to long ago his little kid messing around in the garage and somehow dropped something on the car and messed it up. I never saw the car when it was damaged but one of my other neighbor's told me about it. The first week he got the car I saw the same little kid walking on top of it.

Yeh, the Streets of Willow. Crazy track, turn 9 just has the most wipeouts b/c of the speed and entry/exit angles, you start feeling too "hot" like yor the f'n man, untill turn 9 puts a realty check back into you. Just search online and you'll see the reputation turn 9 has lol.

I have a cool article on the Panoz family in one of my Forbes magazines, damn that family owns a shitload of stuff lol..the cars...farms....real estate...wineries....horses etc.

That little kid had been my son, he would have gotten drop kicked in the mouth..daddy would have made the tooth fairy visit early:D

Comfort, style, and raw power hmmm sounds like a Saleen S7 twin turbow to me ;). Even the Ford GT 40, I do love the old Vipers though. They scream sex on wheels.

Gary hit the nail on the head: Corvettes are a dime a dozen, everyone has one. A Viper on the other hand, MAN, people still stop and stare at those.

What a beast of a machine... I would love one!
