So I was contacted on a BMW forum to detail " a" car. I was told it may be a little bit different than what I was used to. A few days later, I met up with the individual to take a look at what I would be detailing. To my surprise, it surely was no regular vehicle. It just happened to be one of the 2013 NHRA winner. I was surely up for the job and excited to take this on. I am sharing these pics because I thought some of you may enjoy. The paint overall was in great shape. It mainly had a few scratches that were really hard to see. I had a slight scare during the test spot, because I was told the pin-striping was above the clear coat which was wrong for sure. I quickly realized this and dialed back the aggression to ensure safety. So, after the test area, here is what I used to clean her up.

  • Flex 3401
    GG6
    Ultima Waterless Wash+
    Mothers Clay Bar
Wolfsgang Ultimate Cut Compound 3.0 on 5" Blue Lake Country Hybrid Pad w/ FLEX 3401 speed 5
    Griots Garage Pre-Wax Cleanser
    DG601 applied by hand
DG105 with Lake Country 5" flat polishing pad w/GG6 speed 5
    Chemical Guys Pete's 53 Wax
Towels used - Griots Garage Wax removal MF towels and Cobra Super Plush towels

Ok. On to the pictures:
Upon arrival

Close up of the slight scratches

The interior of the car was painted black in some sections and there was some over spray evidently. She surely needed to be clayed especially with all the burnouts ect.

After WGUCC 3.0

After Pete's 53 Wax

Thanks for looking everyone!

Sweet detail and nice job! Did you happen to have the opportunity to sit in the car while it was running and tap the gas?! (Not in gear of course haha) :D

HAHA.. Thank you sir. I wish I could have. It did not have any fuel in it, and the transmission was out getting upgraded.

Ah, I understand. You did a great job nonetheless. Keep up the good work.

Nice job on that Dragster. :)

Maybe you will get a Funny Car next. :D

Nicely done Jace! That sucker looks fantastic! I bet it was a joy to polish that thing out.

Did the front clip get any love?

Thanks Mike!! It was fun seeing that paint get deeper and glossier.. :props:

I did not even get to see the front clip. He said it was trashed from the constant on and off and it had some fire damage as well. Apparently it is supposed to get repainted.

Great work Jace! That would be a very fun car to work on!

Thanks Todd! It was surely a fun detail. Well except for the time my heart stopped when I saw that green paint on my pad.. lol. Thank God I did that quick test spot to make sure the pin-striping was in fact above the clear coat.. :)

Thank you sir! I wish I could have heard it crank up in the garage. That would have topped it all off.. :D

Jace, you know how some days seem more like fun than work? Well that looks like it was one of them! :xyxthumbs:

You should have told them once the front end is done that you'll be glad to take the buffer trails and holograms out that the body shop will UNDOUBTEDLY PUT IN! ;)

:iagree: You are so right Tony.. haha.. It was a joy and blessing that I was trusted with this beauty.

LOL.. about the buffer trails. I hope they call me to take care of the front end whenever they get it re-painted. I would rush over there with hopes of hearing that thing fire up. haha..
