The Little Yeller Feller - 2000 Lotus Esprit V8

I might get a little time to post the process pictures for this project but top priority is I'm using the this car and the pictures we took for my Power Point Presentation for my class on how to use the rotary buffer and my class on how to use Porter Cable 7424 to create a show car finish at Mobil Tech Expo this Thursday.

The horizontal panels on this car were done using a 3 step rotary process.

The vertical panels on this car were done using a 2-step dual action polisher process and the dual action polisher was the Porter Cable.

Beautiful work Mike. I always liked this style car and you made the paint pop as usual. Great job.

Looks stunning, Mike! (Like we ever thought it wouldn't)!

Nicely done.

Got any engine pics? Curious to what it looks like.

Here's the process we used...

Step 1: Machine scrub tires using Griot's Garage DA Polisher with a Cyclo Brush and TUF Shine Tire Cleaner.

Step 2: Clean Wheels using Iron X and Wheel Woollies Boar's Hair Brush + 1" Boar's Hair Detailing Brush.

Step 3: Chemically decontaminate paint using Iron X

Step 4: Wash car using Detailer's Xtreme Foam Formula Auto Shampoo & Foam Gun.

Step 5: Dry car with Guzzler Microfiber Waffle Weave Drying Towels.

Step 6: Mechanically decontaminate paint using Nanoskin Autoscrub Pads (Medium) on Porter Cable 7424XP DA Polisher with Detailer's Universal Clay Lube.

Step 7: Compound paint using Wolfgang Uber Compound with an 7.5 inch Electrified White Sheepskin Final Polishing Pad on the Flex PE14 with flexible backing plates.

Step 8: Polish paint using Wolfgang Finishing Glaze with 5" Black Hybrid Finishing Pads on Flex PE14 with 4" Flexible Backing Plate.

Step 9: Jewel paint using Menzerna SF4500 with Lake Country 5.5" Gold jeweling pads on Flex PE14.

Step 10: Machine seal paint using Wolfgang Fuzion with 4" Rupes white foam finishing pads on the Griot's Garage 3" Speed Waxer.

Looks good! How is the tire coating compared to others?

The only other tire coating that I've used that DRIES to the touch is the TUF Shine Tire Clearcoat and if you read any of my car detailing projects for the last year you'll see I've been for the most part using TUF Shine Clearcoat on my personal cars and every car I detail.

I don't like greasy tire dressings and I like doing a great job ONCE and then forgetting about the tires except for touch-ups so I really like TUF Shine Tire Clearcoat.

That said, I like the aresol application. As for the rest of the benefits and features as compared to TUF Shine, I'll have to strip my tires down to bare rubber and do a side by side test.

You'll find some good info in this thread...

Here's a review I did on TUF Shine...

Review: TUF SHINE Tire Appearance Kit

The results are a very nice dry, dark sheen...

Now it's time for the White Glove Test...

Tuf_Shine_Review_014.jpg

Dry to the touch and dust and dirt are going to either wipe right off or rinse off with water or water and a little normal car wash soap.

The finished look is clean and neat...

I like a shiny finish on my tires.......... not mirror like, but, glossier than satin or flat black.... But, I've got 3 different tire cleaners/protectants to use before I add any more tire/wheel products.
Maybe next year :)

Thanks Chris, I had a lot of help from the owner, my brother-in-law. He's been here before with his A.C. Cobra.

Looks stunning, Mike! (Like we ever thought it wouldn't)!

Thank you sir!

Nicely done.

Got any engine pics? Curious to what it looks like.

Thank you. I have one, I'll post it when I get a chance.

Damn nice work Mike!!!

Thank you sir. A little rotary work a little DA work and pretty soon everything is glossy and back to new again...

I agree. I love how these cars look...

That is a beautiful car. I bet that was a blast to work on!

There's a couple of tricky areas, besides that if a guy is going to work on exotics a lot I think getting a lift is a good idea otherwise you're going to be bending over a lot...

:)

Ok thanks mike helped me out a lot so is tuff shine a regular tire coating?

Um.... no.... not regular at all. In fact, different than most of the rest. Think of it as being like a flexible clearcoat for your tire surface.

Most important aspect of TUF Shine Tire Clearcoat is to thoroughly clean your car's tires so there's no previously applied tire dressing.

I think I included some links to threads I've written on how to use the TUF Shine "system", look back through the thread.

Thanks Mike Just read them both looks like I will be picking up the tuf tire shine kit!
