I thought holograms are only caused by wool.
I didn't know foam can also cause holograms. Yikes.
Holograms are at their core scratches...
So ANYTHING that can cause a scratch when applied using a rotary buffer can leave holograms including any type of fiber pad and even foam pads.

It doesnt even look like the car wash washed.......much less any technique used when apply the d300.
Why did you continue to do the whole door in that manner? FAIL
LOL...Great thread title hand. Live and learn...
the guy's shared and admitted his mistake and wanted to share the laugh in a place where holograms are frown upon. was it a failure? yes. it's ballsy to to this in a detailing forum. i know i wouldn't do what he just did.is it that bad to fail? i think even the best made mistakes especially in the beginning. as i always tell my fellow noobs in detailing, everyone starts knowing nothing. it's all about learning and improving.
maybe danube wanted to try D300 with a rotary and foam pad. i read few people having success with ultimate compound with rotary. it's just it didn't work for him. it's a relief that he didn't do permanent damage and he can finish it good with a DA. i bet he learned finishing rotary work with a DA from Mike Phillips.
@mate, better post a picture after you fixed it and share a picture of how you did it.
I'm glad he did share this. That kind of thing happens very quickly with some BMW and Porsche paint. I saw a flannel shirt put scratches in Porsche paint.
