Over the past few weeks I have been detailing my RED Toyota Tundra by hand using the following plan of action

Wash
I am using Griots Garage Car Wash

Clay
I am using Mothers clay with Griots Garage speed Spray.

Megs # 7

NXT liquid wax
Applied with a foam applicator and then Griots Garage wax removal MF towels.

24 hours later NXT spray wax
Applied with a foam applicator and then removed with another Griots Garage wax removal MF towel

I am very pleased with the results as yes I am trying to show off here a bit.

This is a close up of the paint...well as close as I can get it anyway. I apoligise for the blur but I was being buzzed by some rather large horseflies and they were not very friendly !!!

The paint has some metallic chips in it ( I am guessing that is what they are anyway ) & I am happy with how the paint looks & feels.

I am getting the feeling though that there are better waxes out there for my RED Tundra. I am just about ready to pull the trigger on a higher end wax and was hoping for a little advice.
I was looking for something with good UV protection and something that will make that RED Tundra pop even more !!!
I was thinking about the high end Pinnacle but I am not the expert and just wanted a recommendation !! I am a nurse, want some medical advice I can talk to ya...car wax....well uhhh...I know I need some guidance here.

You may get another 2-3% more gloss with a different wax/sealant, but it's all in the polishing. Get the paint swirl free and you will be amazed by the before and after.

agreed.

meguiars is a great line of products, but there are other choices.

it does look to me like a little more polishing is required, then you will get that pop you are looking for.

i used the wolfgang twins on my wifes red highlander...holy S*%$ batman, it looked awesome!:xyxthumbs:

Polishing by hand is rough!! A DA would make your life a lot easier. You wouldn't believe the difference it makes.

I have detailed a black Tundra just like yours, it's one massive truck! Took me 10 hours with a DA. I would not take on that truck with out a DA.
Just sharing my experience.

Wow. Now I am not complaining but honestly asking...you guys can tell
From those pictures that I honestly need to do more polish work ??? I do have to admit that doing polish work by hand does not sound like a good time at all!!! Then again if I did not want the truth I shouldn't have
Put the picture up. Sounds like it is time I made a investment

OP, don't misunderstand what the people above are saying, your truck does look good. But if you go to show-n-shine forum section, you will see what it CAN look like.

It would literally be so glossy it could easily be used as a mirror. We would be able to note every detail on your face when you took that close up picture, that's how good it can look!

As Mike would say, taking a car's paint to it's maximum potential.

Getting a polisher is just worth it, if only for your time investment. You can get a polisher, backing plate, pads, and 2 good polishes for around
$250.00 (likely less). So, if you think of all the hours you will save using a machine, and what your time is worth, it will all pay for itself after 1 complete 2 step polish job. Plus you will have all the materials to do this again and again.

Hey Camaro
I did not take it as people were being harsh at all. I was more amazed that they could see that it needed more work. If I didn't want the truth I wouldn't have put the picture up there. If the truck could look better I am all about it. Like I said earlier. Sounds like it is time to make a investment.

Thanks everyone for taking some time to comment. I am truly grateful.

Well you are on a detailing forum ;) in my few months on this forum I have noticed that people here are very knowledgeable and helpful! :xyxthumbs:

Let us know what you end up going with. I recently just made my first polisher purchase because of the labor day sale going on now (laborday2012 = code) for 15% off and here is my thread where I asked a lot of questions that you might be thinking now and got some great responses: http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum...-need-you-guys-look-over-before-purchase.html

Keep us updated!

good point here too..

there is a big difference between shine and depth...these photos show an example of DOI (distinction of image) or clarity in your polish job..you can see reflections like they are a mirrior..this polish job is almost a year old and only "refreshed" with a coat of PB liquid natys blue and a coat of aqua wax last weekend.

here you can see the lawn, driveway and neighbours truck on the road...

thats the only reason i thought you may need to step up the polish step, because your photo to me showed great shine, but did lack in clarity or DOI. but hey, if youre happy with the results, thats all that matters.

definately a hard job to achieve great depth or correction by hand.
