So I'm thinking about pulling my wheels off and respraying the undercoat in my fender wells.

I was going to go to O'Reilly's and get a can of the Duplicolor undercoat to do it.

I have no idea how simple this is or what exactly to do. Anyone ever done this?

It's starting to come off. I want to get it done and fixed before I go to college.

If it's coming off you'll need to really scrub and clean it before applying new spray since the old stuff is loosing its bond to the metal. Anything will work, even regular old spray paint. Some of the rubberized spray liners are kinda thick and rocks and debris flung up to it with actually stick to it. Some of those spray liners cannot be used on plastic so read the directions before buying and applying.

Do I need to be scrubbing the old stuff off? The reason I think it's started to come off is because I made an ill-advised decision to use the coin-operated pressure washer at almost point blank on it.

Use your fingernail in different areas to see if it easily flakes off. If it does, I'd use the pressure washer to remove the loose flakes. Anything left after pressure washing should be okay to topcoat. If it doesn't flake off easy, you should be good to go on applying the coating. Be careful with the pressure washer around hoses and tires. I've seen people puncture the sidewall of a tire with a direct closeup shot with the washer!

Your gonna need to tape off the areas you don't want sprayed with the undercoating really well. Especially the white paint!

Yeah, it can come off pretty easily in some areas with my finger nail. Guess I'll roll over to the coin-op station!
