Well I am thinking the time is coming soon for a newer vehicle. I have had my camry for over five years now and it has served me well and I do believe it is the best looking DD camry in existence but the time is coming to move on.

For my 21st bday, I have talked to my family and they will math my 5k for a newer car as mine is having all sorts of strange issues one after another. I refuse to put more money into it.

Im looking for something that is quick for sure. Driving a 95hp automatic sedan for 5 years has me drooling at the acceleration of a moped..! haha.. So I would like something reasonably quick and fun to drive. Something with an aftermarket community would be nice. Of course, the lower the miles the better. I do need this as a reliable car as in no strange engine swaps that I would not be able to find a good mechanic to work on.

Thanks for spending my cash... :p

I recently needed a daily driver and too wanted to spend 10k cash and own it. My plan was two years or less as I am recouping losses in the market and wanted no payments and solid transportation. Vette is still in garage and wife needs truck for kids too.

I could not find much other than 2007 Mercury Milan/Ford Fusions in that pricing with higher mileage and alot were used as rentals. I saw alot of Altimas too but dont particularly like the design. I chose the Saturn for a couple reasons but did spend under 13k. It had the six speed auto, 3.6 6 cyl with VVT and 250 hp. It came with remote start and every option. It took some time as all local dealers were asking 17k for these units. Insurance is tiny with Stabilitrak and multiple airbags and was rated 5 star in impact tests. With gas going back above 3.00 a gallon it was the best move for now. Best part it has a factory warranty for another year and I can purchase a GMPP warranty for less than 800.00 with no deductible if I keep it longer.

Just remember cars are depreciating items and sometimes there is more than one variable to buying transportation.

I was considering getting a new car for commuting to work a few months back, and was looking in your price range. I was focusing on MPG and dependability and of course something fun! All of this brought me to a Volkswagen, I was really liking the idea of a Honda but they are hard to fine them under 10,000 with low miles since they hold the value so well.

Yeah that saturn was a nice deal. Ill keep an eye out for something similar.

Volkswagen might be a good idea. A vr6 or 1.8t model might be good. Im not worried too much about mpg. School parking garage is literally 1.4 miles away from my parking space heh.

You can get a NEW Kia Spectra for $9995 with 5yr 60,000 bumper to bumper, and 10 YR 100,000 power train. Trade in a clunker by tomorrow and get it for $5495 plus tax.

I would look at Accords. Yes, it holds it's value very well, but there is a reason behind that - people want it. Notice that there are cars that depreciate faster (percentage wise) then others - and there is a reason behind those too. Unless you want a newer Camry (maybe with a V-6), I'd look at Accords (maybe even a V-6), or even Nissan Maxima, you can get 2002-2004 with under 100k miles for 10k. Remember, that nissan doesn't even have timing belt, it uses timing chain, and that thing is gonna last forever. I've heard of people who had over 200k miles on their maximas, and never bothered even checking timing chain.
My daily driver is '99 Infiniti I30t with 102k miles (boought it 2 years ago from my mom with 69k miles), and the only thing I've repaired on it was a replacement of ignition coil, which is a common problem for that year...
Other then that, it's running like a champ.

A maxima may be worth looking into. Doesnt the 02-04 have the 350Z v6?

It is a V-6, but probably not the same as on 350Z. The one on 350Z runs on premium fuel only, where on Maxima premium is only recommended for maximum performance, but it can run on regular as well...
