Thoughts....would you bill higher if the car was owned by an athlete or celebrity ?

Would you charge more?
What would you charge for a full detail/polish on "21 flash" ?

No, I bill what I bill no matter someone's financial situation. Imo a person does not get a "rich" up charge.

I bill out at $80 and would do so weather you're $50k a year or multi million and both are free to tip or not tip...I do not expect it.

I will also say this..... Do you go the other way and drastically drop your prices or work for free if someone can't afford it?

I'm just making conversation...

and YES...I have done cars for free....MANY!!

I know, I was not blasting ya but just making a few open statements and have also done free bees and do buddy discounts. Imo I just don't think raising a price for someone who can obviously afford it is the right way to go... that can be shown if they decide to tip.

I hear ya...unfortunately...many people do this in ALL aspects of services...it's really sad actually

Anywhere from Electrical/plumbing/roofing...painting....the list goes on and on.

Denzel Ward is my Mother in laws next door neighbor...I rarely see him and if I do it's for like 2 seconds...he is very private.
If I catch him this spring, I'm going to ask him if he wants me to do 21 flash.
If he asks how much.....I'm going to say....pay me what you thinks it's worth after I'm done...

Might backfire on me......LOL

O so true.... Example....I own 2 bmws, I do all mechanical work myself for vehicle's but a bmw dealership wants $300 to do a oil change, $800 to do brakes lol f that.

With an Ohio plate, possible Cleveland Brown? If so I'd comp him on the work...his professional life is probably depressing enough without worrying about a big detailing bill.

It's Denzel Ward....

With a 36 million dollar signing bonus....I dont feel his pain....sorry

The customers income has nothing to do with my prices. That seems asinine to me.

I wish the guy that gave me an $4000 estimate to paint my garage thought like you.....

Got it done for $850 from another source and it was a great job...

Cleveland. Browns.

After upcoming season he'll likely need $35.97 million worth of therapy.

I'm not a professional detailer but I would be inclined to focus on making him a steady client by showing value in your first project for him, then suggesting and offering remedial maintenance for him 6 months or later down the road. I would think he could offer great "word-of-mouth" referrals to teammates and others in his circle of friends that could further grow your business.
Good luck.

Personally I think it’s a basic business fundamental that if you’re vary your pricing based upon the financial status of your customer, you are looking at long-term failure… People are not stupid, the word gets out…

In the late 80s I was a general manager/partner of a Porsche dealership in Pittsburgh, and we sold several cars to members of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Penguins and the Steelers. They all came to us versus the other two Porsche dealers in town because we were straight with our pricing, and nothing got inflated. What goes around comes around…

pretty much the truth right there, all it takes is one word of mouth incident to get out and you and doomed.

"You paid what!!!
I paid this!....game over"...

The price would be the same celebrity or no celebrity. I worked on John Cena's MB GT he sold to a customer. Still charged him the same as if it were a regular Joe or Jane.

Same price no matter who it is but I would possibly do a little extra for someone who's a little down and out though but that's just me.

If it were a Yankee player? Nope.

Red Sox player? At least double, and I might even "spill" some mystery liquid in the gas tank.........:laughing:

I'm a "hobbyist" detailer. I'm better off then the rest of the family/friends/neighbors so I've been detailing since I was 14ish for the pride of seeing a car shine. I did have a neighbor when I was still in school who would have me wax his '62 Lincoln once a year for money.... I contribute that to my rotator cuff aches and pain!

I'm waiting on a Can Coat EVO kit to tryout on a neighbors bright red Ram. She loves her ride but it needs a detailers touch. She talks about taking it in for a "wax" job but we all know the care given at the local swirl wash.

When I die I'll have a long list of people remembering me for the things I did for them then the other way around!
