So today I was reorganizing my trailer and in doing so realized what a pain in the butt it is to store backing plates. I don't know about you guys but they always seem to fall to the back of my drawers and I end up disorganizing the entire drawer trying to find the size I need. Anyway, I don't know if anyone has thought of this before or posted it on here, if so, I apologize, but I figured it would be practical to just by a 2 ft x 2 ft or so sheet of velcro, and then have all your backing plates attached to it somewhere out of the way. That way, when you need a backing plate, you can see all of them and choose accordingly. Going to do some research tomorrow as to where one could find velcro in sheets, and when I do I'll let everyone know.

Regards,

Max

Velcro is handy for a lot of things. I have small pieces of the hook side on the underside of the shelves in my detailing cabinet for keeping pads out of the way and maximizing space. Larger strips of the soft loop side is on the inner sides of the cabinet for backing plates. I've got strips on the outside of the cabinet as well.. attach the opposite side to vacuum attachments, hoses... most anything you want within easy reach yet out of the way.

You can find rolls of the 2" stout commercial grade velcro at K Mart, Wally World or a fabric or craft shop. I've never seen sheets... multiple strips of the 2" would give more versatility, IMO.

Thanks! Yeah, my trailers only 4x7 and more than half of the length is taken up by a generator, pressure washer and water tank so anything to save space helps.

It usually takes many, many years of hard work, and "saving-up", to have what you have listed as: "my".

Glad to see you have by-passed those stages! :props:

Yeah, I got incredibly lucky and stumbled across a guy selling a really nice detailing trailer and he had no idea what he had!

I don't know if I'd say I bypassed any stages, 4 years of working minimum wage after school and on weekends to save up for the trailer and all the other stuff for this business.

I recently made MaxWax Auto Detailing LLC a legitimate company and bought a trailer, naturally my next step was to seek insurance, something I didn't really think would be an issue. After trying 3 different insurance agencies I finally found one that would do a small business. Today, they called and said that getting general liability insurance probably wouldn't be an issue but since I'm sixteen years old, none of the companies were willing to do garage keepers insurance. Will it be a big pain down the line if I don't have garage keepers? Do any of you make due without it? Any input would be appreciated.

Regards,

Max

To be perfectly honest, some forums don't allow users under 18. I don't think the fact that I'm 16

So I was dishonest and for that I apologize.

I've been a member since October but just realized I never formally introduced myself! Anyway, my name is Max Thilen, owner and operator of MaxWax Auto Detailing LLC out of South Florida

Have an awesome day,

Max

I'm trying to understand; but, I must be missing out on something. Please, at the least, just for my sake, help me fill in the blanks.

I started helping out at bike shops for a few hours a week when I was 12 for 7 dollars an hour (plenty of people do odd jobs at a young age) , when 14 I started working legitimately and a few months ago I decided to start MaxWax Auto Detailing. Out of curiosity, why do you seem to feel the need to uncover something about me or my business? I think I can say that I have a trailer and this company because I worked hard and I can't grasp why you want to discredit that.

No intent to discredit you.
Not trying to uncover something about you or your business.
No effort must be expended on my part for that to happen.
No more MaxWax involvement, of any nature, whatsoever, is my solemn promise.

Grande Finale:
Again...Good Luck in your endeavors!
