To primer or not to primer?

Burned through my paint all the way to the primer on this 2003 miata metallic Gray.
Do you think I'll need to wet sand it plus its surroundings and primer before my spray paint touch up, or is primer not needed for this project and just sanding will provide adequate adhesion ?
It's smooth to the touch.

No primer is needed as you already have a ideal surface to work from. the trouble now is to color match the spot

How much area should I wet sand around it and what grit?
Color will be ordered from "Automotive Touch-up" . They've been spot on previously for my needs. Obviously surrounding original paint is 21 y/o.
All good. I can knock it back later if need be. Doesn't have to be a 10/10 job either way.

you'll need to wet sand that area like when one would do a color correction. in fact I would lean towards using a air brush or small sprayer for more control for the small touch up area. feather it out then sand, clean and buff with polish us the buffer at a low speed avoid using masking tape or alterative as you just need to focus on the exposed area with a small sprayer.

But I'll need to respray a bit beyond blemish for better blend. No?
And what grit would you recommend?
