The lady friend has been looking to upgrade the audio options in her car, as it did not come with bluetooth or even an audio aux port.

The car is a 2007 Trailblazer, and after some research I picked up the isimple ISGM 655. Very sweet little device, piggy backs off the factory radio which still functions as it would. It adds bluetooth audio streaming, bluetooth calling with included microphone, a flush-mount USB port that supports andriod/ios and iphone 5 lightning cables, as well as an aux 3.5 audio input.

Before starting, you can see the two lighter ports just under the climate controls. I will be adding the USB port next to them.

Zoomed in look, sadly the lighter cap is covering my target spot but you get the idea.

Radio area. I sadly did not take any pictures of actually hooking the box up. Basically the factory radio has 2 cables and an antenna coming into it. You unhook those and pull out the radio. The device comes with a new harness, which you plug directly into the factory radio, and then the existing car radio cables piggy-back into the new harness wiring. Very simple and straight forward.

Front dash plastic panel after I drilled out a hole and slipped in the USB port.

Here it is from the backside, you can see the butts of the lighters as well as the USB port.

This is the back panel behind the front dash where the cigarette lighters go. Just as the factory had to do for the lighters, I needed to clear some space for the USB butt. A little sloppy but it worked and you will never see it. Yes I cleaned afterwards :)

Charges and plays iphone 5 audio great! I also mounted the microphone near the rear view mirror and snaked the wires through the trim so you never see them. Calls and bluetooth audio streaming worked great!

All in all it probably took me 1.5-2 hours working slowly as I have never done anything like this before. I would say it was not all that difficult, hardest part was drilling out the areas for the USB mount. Excited for all the added functionality!

wish i knew how to do things like that then again...........................

I had no idea what I was doing before hand, but watched a few videos and read some threads and was confident I could do it.

Learn by doing!
