My nephew wants a front full colgan bra for his 03 chev cavalier sedan..
i told him that he was crazy....and that it may not look good on that car ...And he's worked so hard to achieve a beautiful shine it may not be a good idea
he's insisting, and I'm putting it here to get some feedback from you guys n gals so i can let him see the ya's and na's......

YES OR NO?? I SAY NO!!!!!!!!!

thanks......

Not a fan of those. Plus, you need to worry about paint fade. Has he looked at the clear bra's? I have a 3M on my Infiniti. My girlfriend should've gotten one on her 2009 toyota matrix. That matrix has the thinest paint I've seen in a while.

Thanks....ill pass it along.......;-)

Years ago I had a black vinyl bra on my wife's Honda (front 1/3 of hood and fenders). Dirt, dust, moisture get trapped. You either take it off each wash or get additional problems. UV fade another problem. Bottom line is I had to keep buying new ones to cover up the damage. Flip side is some cars do look cool with a bra.

i wish i had gotten the clear bra for my car when i got it

We use OEM Honda nose masks on our 2 Accords (96 & 06) for commuting purposes. I-95 debris can be a killer on the front of your car. The nose masks are however removed every weekend when the vehicles are washed and detailed. I don't reinstall them until Sunday night to ensure that the paint is completely dry. Also, I use DP Total Interior Cleaner and Protectant on the nose masks to keep them clean and fresh. I've never had any hazing issues with them either. The 96' front bumper still looks brand new with zero rock chips, etc.

I used to have an OEM bra for my wife's 07'Accord because she commuted 100 miles a day. It sucked. The fit was rather poor and I hated having to clean it every week. I finally got the InvisiMask and put it on myself. Not the most professional job, but it got the job done and looked good from a distance.:D I still use the part that goes on the hood, but I take that off every weekend.

I have a Colgan bra for my IS350. Surprisingly, it has not scratched up my car, but I also don't have it on all the time. I only put it on when I know I'll be going a long distance somewhere. I look at it this way: Scratches are easier to repair than rock chips.

I would say get the bra, but only if it's a Colgan and makes sure it gets taken off and cleaned every week. I'm guessing the latter will discourage your nephew from getting it.

Right......The latter would discourage him.....he's looking now at the 3M film....he'd would have it applied proffesionality i'd hope....

Not to discourage him, but having it applied professionally is going to be expensive. I was quoted $600. That's why I did it myself. I'm sure if I did it again now, the second time will be a lot smoother!:D

WOW!! $600? :o

I paid $275 for the whole bumper and face(around grill and headlights). But, not the hood. Call around for quotes, at least 3-4.

Yeah, I was pretty shocked too. I checked some other car forums and they were getting around the same prices. That's why I did it myself. Maybe the prices have come down since, but I'd probably do it myself again. I paid $125 total.
