I’ve been detailing a 22ft Sea Ray.

The gelcoat was in excellent condition. I performed a light buff and polish. Gel coat was very slick and clean.

Cleaned off all the polish oils with the prep product and applied Marine 31 Captain’s Boat coating UV50.

Im curious if anyone has top coated this synthetic sealant with a Collinite wax.

Similar to what folks have with Wolfgang Paint Sealant and Collinite Insulator Wax 845 in the automotive world.

When you top a coating - you get the benefits and features of the topper, not the coating.

A big reason to use a coating is to get the benefits and features of the coating.

So kind of self-defeating.

:)

I’m surprised the coating does feel as slick as wax.

I know the Wolfgang paint sealant seems much slicker than this product. Has that been your experience?

Also, I understand slickness and protection are two different things.

Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant is known and even famous for its slick feel.

Most coatings feel rubbery.

:)

Mike,

Thanks for your insight and advice....it is very much appreciated.

I’m very curious about this coating it’s in the same bottle as the old blackfire crystal coat. I loved that coating this brought back memories. Some ppl had very difficult time with crystal coat but I bought a bunch of the 8oz bottles from outlet store that were 20 dollars per. I bought 8 of them sadly down to my last one. Is this anything like crystal coat? From years ago. Please update us on this new one. Thanks for posting.

I cover and coated a majority of item in my home and in car, the list included hot tub covers, shutters, couches basically everything in my house with old blackfire that one did not dry hard instead it dried to a flexible rubber

Mike I ordered have a RV project coming up and figured this will be good to try I plan to layer I need a full year out of It because it’s outside 24/7
