I cannot think of an industry that overhypes it's products more than the detailing products industry. In the grand scheme of things the industry is quite small but seems to be very over saturated with products. Every products manufacturer competing for the detailers dollars which is their top priority and they are not above severely stretching the truth.

If I had to pick a product where the price range is confusing it would be rinseless washes. They must be very profitable and very easy to make. But the vast majority seem to perform in a very simiar fashion with very similar results yet some are priced at 4 times the cost of other rinseless washes that perform just as well.

Before rinseless became so popular the extremely overhyped product was waxes. Just with rinseless washes there were and still are some very reasonably priced waxes that perform very well. Many times the quality differences is splitting hairs but the cost certainly is not.

Eh, this is an age-old consumer problem, which is why there are magazines like Consumer Reports. And I think I've mentioned before the "white label" stuff at the grocery store...is it the same as the name brand, from the name brand plant? Is it the rejects from the name brand plant? Is it entirely some other cheap crap?

Wait, aren't most RW's pretty close in price

I use this Tide in hot water.

Ceramic coatings. I find very few brands give realistic expectations about their coatings and now we’re being inundated with a bunch of brands promising 6, 7, 8, or 10+ years. There are even a few that promise to last a lifetime but we all know damn well these coatings will barely make it past two years. But, people love them because they can drive around with an impenetrable shield on their cars and never wash them or do any exterior maintenance.

I've had great luck with 3D Towel Kleen, sometimes I mix in baking soda too

3D Towel Kleen is cool, no complaints other than it can’t revive towels that are already too hydrophobic.

But the Tide costs $14 for 105oz.
3D. Towel Kleen costs $32 for 128oz.
Rags2Riches costs $42 for 128oz.

The Tide does the exact same job as the more expensive ones + I can use it to wash my clothes + it’s unscented.

How does the Tide do with the hydrophobic issue?

I haven’t subjected any virgin drying towels to drying aids or spray sealants, so I can’t comment as far as that.

He interviewed for the Shamwow gig, but Vince got the job.

Can’t blame em, nobody tops Vince!
Maybe so but they've got the triple threat...Pan, DJ Kalid & that guy, not sure what he's all about, surely he's got an angle

The Triple Threat is: Rinseless, Waterless, & Bucket Wash

Cmon man you gotta know how to decipher these things.

In my opinion the detergent is important. However I suspect the dedicated microfiber laundry detergent are very similar to any name brand free and clear detergent. If anyone can tell me how the dedicated microfiber is chemically different than Tide or Arm & Hammer I'm all ears. Much more important is how the towels are dealt with. Such as the number one killer is allowing them to sit for extended periods or allowing to dry after use. If one cannot wash towels or any microfiber after use then place them in a bucket of water with a little all purpose cleaner till you can wash them. Also very helpful to use white vinegar in the rinse cycle.
Follow good laundry practices and your towels won't become hydrophobic.

Everyone gets all concerned about their drying towels becoming hydrophobic because of use with SI02. But SI02 is in more and more products and don't think it's going away. I have microfiber applicators that I use SI02 products with such as TEC 582 and they don't become hydrophobic at all and I don't put those in the washing machine. I just wash them by hand under the faucet and use a little Dawn on them. I've worn them out and they never turned hydrophobic.
I follow the same practice and just wash them out after finished using them instead of letting them sit.
