I have read this article not that long ago and read it again just now. I thought of using V7 first as it is a spray sealant, consistent with your article of first putting a layer of sealant, then a layer of wax.
I'm going to guess that what you mean above is that the v7 is a Sealant and OCW is a WAX because the word WAX is part of the name, as in
Optimum Car Wax
From the page above,
Optimum is the first and only wax that contains UVA and UVB absorbers to shield your paint from all the sun’s harmful rays.
The formula combines high-grade carnauba wax and sealant polymers to give you outstanding shine and protection.
Most products on the market are
hybrids
in that they use both natural ingredients, (Carnauba Wax), and man-made ingredients. In other words, most waxes and paint sealants are
blended products.
But it's easy to see how anyone can read the label of Optimum Car Wax and think that it's a "WAX" in the traditional sense of the use of the word.
This goes back to marketing and there are no Word Police to govern over what words manufactures use to market their products.
Take
NXT Car Wax for example, this is an all synthetic product but marketing chose to use the word "wax" on the label to describe the product because research has shown that when Joe or Joanne Consumer is standing in front of the wax aisle at the local car parts store you have about 3 seconds to get their attention. Most people think it's a wax substance like Carnauba Wax because of the name but it's not, it's a synthetic product with a name to appeal to the lowest common denominator as it relates to a customer.
If you want the sale you don't confuse the customer, (who is assumed to be dumb), with words like NXT Synthetic Paint Sealant. If you confuse the customer, and remember you only have about 3 seconds, they will choose a product that doesn't confuse them.
Turtle Wax
Pretty easy for the average person to quickly figure out what Turtle Wax is by reading the label. The name says
wax and that's what the customer is looking for
so it goes into the shopping bag.
Same goes with car washes. If a customer is looking for a car wash at the retail level, you don't want to confuse your customer so you choose simple words to describe the product. NXT Car Wash.
Online marketing you can break all the rules used for retail marketing because generally speaking you're dealing with a much more educated consumer.
Regardless, if you want to take advantage of the UV inhibitors in the OCW then you want to apply this product directly to your car's paint.
