Hi all, I've searched here and elsewhere, find references but no details on this.
I've watched and talked to pros in body shops do touch up some time ago, and I know they often put something into paint they've mixed (normal mix) to thicken it up so that it fills dings and dries sufficient to rotary buff down to level in about 20 minutes. Anybody know for certain what they use, or do I maybe need to look for a body shop forum?

I'm trying to get my son's Ranger truck with 125k miles on it ready to sell, and it has 3-4 dozen pinhead sized dings. I'm familiar with Langka and DRcolorchip, but not looking to go that way and mostly looking to get done quickly.
I already have spray paint as I need to respray the camper lid, need to thicken it up to do the dings.

Thanks!

just goto bodyshop and ask them if they will mix you some touch up paint.

Thanks, but already have touch up paint

Got that at the same time/place I had the aerosols made, but the main point is that many regular touch up paints, even if I have a body shop make it up, is fairly thin, including what I have.
I'd like to just learn what the ones that do a lot of touch up add for thinkener.
Also, I have two colors/vehicles to do.

For ref: In my town, Sherwin Willaims auto paint store makes paint code aerosols for $20/large spray can, $12.95 for second of same color (although my guy gave me both 2nd cans for $12.95), and he made the touch-up bottle for $5.75. Seemed pretty reasonable for me. they also stock 3M, had hand and machine glaze, FI2, etc., not easy to find stocked around here.

It's probably a hardening agent. My girl's father used to be a painter. Said that's what he always used, and just dabbed it on thick.

Hardener or open up the bottle and let it dry up for a bit, depends on touch up paint tho.
