With the success I had using the Turtle Wax Jet Black Black Endura Shine Tire Coat, which was brought to us by HateSwirls (seen in this thread)
http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/auto-detailing-101/78659-coated-my-tires-today-wow.html

I decided to purchase the Jet Black Black Endura Shine Trim Coaitng. I couldn't pass up the $10 rewards that I got from Pep Boys for being a member of their rewards program. Out the door it was $7 and change. Regular price was $16.99.

What better way then to test it against a well known product in Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant to see how it compares with one of the best trim products.

For this I used a spare tirm piece. I will be letting this sit outside in the elements to see how they perform against each other. I will wash them with just soap and water and provide updates along the way.

Photos aren't the best as they were taken with my iphone and I was losing daylight. Will provide better photos later.

This is what the box looks like

2 Gloves
1 Applicator
1 8 oz bottle of product

I prepped the trim with soap & water followed by Meguiar's D103. I then taped off the trim in half and applied each product as seen in the photo.

The turtle wax trim coating resembles the tire coating liquid. For all we know it could be the same product or maybe tweaked just a bit. But they are both blackish grey in color and very watery. As with each product a little goes a long way. I applied product on about a 1/4 inch from the top of the applicator. It was enough for this test.

I applied one coat of each product and pulled the tape line. As you can see WETS darkens the trim a bit and has the new trim look. TW darkens the trim a little more but also adds a sheen to it. The directions state that adding more layers will add more shine similar to the tire coating.

Thanks for doing this can't wait to see how it does, with the tire coat being so good for tHe price and availability this could also be a real treat

No problem. I'm curious myself to see how this compares.

the wolfgang side looks better IMHO, but i'm curious if the turtle wax can last as long as wolfgang.

If this lasts anything like the tire coating I will be all over it. The only problem is I don't like my trim as shiny as my tires. Ultimate Quick wax is about as glossy as I like it.

The gloss isn't too bad. As long as you apply a thin coat you will be fine. Of course if the trim is dry it will absorb more. I'll post a follow up this weekend.

Has anyone tried the tire coat on trim?

Not yet. I will have to try it as I have both on another piece of trim.

Here is an update after a quick wash. Both products are holding up well after a week.

You can see the sheen this gives to the trim. Some will like this and some will not.

Are these available at Walmarts ! Been a while I haven t been to one .

Not sure if it's available at Walmart. I bought mine at the local pep boys. I used to see it autozone but not anymore.

I wonder if this stuff and the tire coating will be able to sell enough over the counter to justify continued production. I used the tire coating on both of my cars last month and haven't had to reapply them at all. That and I still have a ton of coating left over.

I just have a feeling that these won't sell well even though they appear to be great products.

Yeah, most people who go to a place like O'Reilly's won't even consider this stuff when the tire shine they're used to using is cheaper and more familiar. All I know is that if it does stop production I'll clear the shelves.

Quick update on that trim piece with WETS and TW. Both are holding up well. They still look like day 1.

Here are some photos of the directions on how to use this. It actually states that more coats will make the trim appear darker.

I went ahead and used it on my dad's 02 Camaro. The trim on these cars is notorious for turning grey. I didn't get good before shots as I was losing light. I cleaned it with D103 and applied one coat. Treated the rubber seal as well which is starting to lose it's coating.

A little goes a long way. Be sure to wear gloves or it will stain your hands. I also taped off the trim to not get any on the paint. If you do get it on a spot wipe it off quick.

So far I am liking this. I will see how it looks tomorrow after it has sat over night. I will also see how long it lasts on his car.

One thing I did forget to mention is that the tip of the bottle was clogged after only using this one. I had to use a needle to unclog it.

Nice results I am gonna have to pick this up for the new car I got yesterday try to keep it nice and coated

Cleaned up the trim piece. Here's a beading shot of each product. WETS beads much better between the two.

Not the best photos as the sun got me. But it should give everyone an idea.

Took a look at these on 7/26/14. Both are holding up well. They have survived and performed well after this small thunderstorm that passed through on 7/28/14.
