I need to get some feelings out....I live in Minnesota, and have tons of salt on the underside of my car. Since i have no way of getting 100% of if off the car, i need to go to a car wash with a under wash. wish me luck!!!

just don't have them prep your car with broomsticks before you enter,That's were a big majority of paint damage occurs.

No, you don't have to go a swirl-o-matic. You can go to a brushless wash, you can go to a self-service car wash. There is no good reason to instill swirls on your car. Don't do it!

I'm in Western NY & I feel your pain regarding salt encrusted undercarriage so this is how i deal with it. I use an oscillating lawn sprinkler (set to full left-to-right range) & move it to various locations, perhaps starting at the rear & letting it run for a few minutes then pull the hose to bring it further foreward.

Certainly doesn't approach the psi of a pressure washer but, with most of the undercarriage being only 12 - 24" away, the lawn sprinkler method does an adequate job in the driveway

Look for a touch less wash.

What I do is spray ONR or D114 diluted at quick detail ratio.

Spray it over the entire car.

Then to thru the touch less wash.

They actually clean the cars pretty well for a touchless.

And this summer make sure you polish your car then coat it.

The coatings help TREMENDOUSLY with touchless washing as its harder for

Dirt,salt,grime,mud to stick.

If you want a easy, AND I MEAN EASY, coating to apply.

Try the paint coating from the SPECTACULAR McKee's 37 line.

It's so easy to apply a caveman can do it. If you can apply wax, you can apply this coating.

It will give you up to 2 years of protection. And it's a bargain price.

Check it out!

That's what I used to do

A lot of the touchless washes here on MI have good undercarriage rinses that engage upon entry.

Some of the undercarriage units in tunnel washes don't do that great a job.

Good idea!

Like all (or most) have said...touch-less with a 'bottom blast'. If the bottom blast isn't offered...the lawn sprinkler works well.

Wait a minuet...it was pushing 70 yesterday were you able to wash it at home?

If all else fails, I would think a coin-op car wash with the pressure wand would do the trick.

If you're careful and have a few buck in quarters on hand you can do just as well as an underbody wash. No nead to torture you car in the tunnel-o-swirls.

Love that idea too, NYV6 and Ronnie KH! Maybe spray some degreaser under there as best you can and then flush it all out with a wide angle lawn sprinkler.

I LOVE McGyvering tricks like that! Of course i like Mike's undercarriage tool the best but until i gets me one...where's that dang lawn sprinkler i had...
