Ughhh why me always Handle issue

Ok so been using my 3401 and love it but today i noticed those little almost shark fins on the handle bent out and are now letting the handle slip and pushes my fingers against the backing plate during rotation. is the handle supposed to slide up and down and lock in i thought it was stationary but either way this cant be right because its moving when i dont want it to

Try using it with handle removed -many do
