Hello,

About two months ago I applied Sonax Polymer Net Shield after I used a clay bar, but now I realize I made a mistake because I didn't polish the car before the PNS.
There are quite a few swirls and scratches on my car, as you can see in the following link:

I wanted to ask if I should use the Ultimate Compound (black bottle) or the Polishing Compound (red bottle)?
How should I remove the old PNS that I applied two months ago?
And do you recommend using Sonax PNS with BSD?

My car is Mazda 3 2016. Meteor Gray Mica.

Thanks!

Either one of those should remove the PNS.

Start with the Polishing Compound (least aggressive), and check your results.

I would use Ultimate because it's newer...and is a pretty solid product actually.

The one on the left is suppose to be a nice product that's easy to work with. I would try it with a medium pad like rupes yellow foam. Polishing will get PNS off.

If the one on the right is a finishing polish you could start with that one first to see if your happy or use it for the 2nd step for a 2-step.

Thanks for your replies.

Should I wash my car after polishing before I apply Sonax PNS? Is it necessary?

And by the way, I don't have a machine. I polish by hand.

Ultimate Compound is a solid product but I have noticed that it has a short working time. If your work it too much it is difficult to remove.

Haven't used it but I'd recommend a real DA polisher like a Griot's Garage G9.

Ultimate Compound is a pretty decent product but I found that Griots complete compound in the yellow bottle was easier to work with and easier to remove.

In a word: No.

Before I found AG, I made the mistake of buying one of these. Total gimmick as far as being able to polish out a whole car. Spot polishing? Maybe. (Big maybe).

Don't waste your money on this.

I bought it too when i first started out 2+ years ago. Its the single reason i don't really look at megs products. I think its a total ripoff personally. Spot polishing maybe like you said. I think they should probably pull it off the market....unless it was like 1/2 the price maybe. Its not even cheap in canada. Close to 1/2 the price of a real DA.

Thanks for the answers!

Can I apply Sonax PNS directly after compounding/polishing? Is it not necessary to wash the car after compounding and before paint sealant?

You can go from polishing straight to Sonax PNS without having to wash again as long as your paint is clean.

A lot of detailers will use an IPA spray and wipe solution to clean up the polish after your polishing passes. Then apply PNS.
