This friday my car was parked in my GFs apartment complex. A sprinkler head broke, and poured gallons of water on my roof as I slept.
After I washed I noticed that the water spotting was hazy, and didnt come off with QD. I polished with 106, and that got all the haze off, but there are still some faint outlines of a few spots on the hood. Above the drivers window I can see a few spots that are still hazy.

<> Does the haze mean that the spots are still eching into my clear??
I plan on getting rid of those ASAP.

<> And the faint outlines, I am asumming will go away with the next polish cycle. Can they get worst??

Thanks in advance, Mike

Duragloss makes a product to get out water spots too..it's the chemicals in the water that make the marks..makes you feel good about what you drink, eh???

i would do what scott said, maybe go one step up on your polish pad as well in one area to see if that does the job.... actually start with your same pad, it doesn't work... then do with more aggressive pad

If you can see faint out lines than it very well could be etching. Have you tried an alcohol wipe?

I already clayed then polished, with 106. (the process I used is in the show and shine forum) I am sure that the faint lines are eching. They are very very hard to see, and I am not going to polish again just to get those out. Sooner or later I will polish again, and that should get rid of those.
But, the ones that are still hazy are what I am concerned about. I will check out that duragloss product thanks. The hazy marks are above the drivers window. I didnt work the polish in alot on that spot, since it is a narrow area.

I think I will try the duragloss water spot remover, and then PPP w/ a 4in white pad. Just on the spots that are hazy. Good plan??

Water Marks (Water Spots):
The misnomer ‘water spots’ are caused by a moderate to high alkaline or acidic solution, both of which can cause paint discolouration, surface etching (a concave circular mark and pitting)leaving microscopic surface imperfections and micro pores in the paint film surface that are vulnerable to deterioration, which need to be removed and naturalized as soon as possible.

There are two categories of water spot-

a) Stage One Corrosion [: defined as a surface with light to moderate corrosion damage to the paint surface]
b) Stage Two Corrosion [: definition when the dirt/corrosion deposits are no longer on the surface but have started to break down the molecular structure, leaving an etched or white haze on the surface after the stain has been removed, with moderate to serious paint damage]

Use the least abrasive product first-
1. Use a paint surface cleaner (Z-PC Fusion Dual Action Paint Cleaner)
2. Try to dissolve the alkaline-based, surface/etched mineral water deposits try one or more of the following;
a) Use a 2:1 or stronger solution of distilled water/distilled white vinegar (Acetic acid)
b) Try a 2:1 solution of distilled water/Isopropyl Alcohol (adjust ratio as required)
c) Or equal parts distilled water/distilled white vinegar/Isopropyl alcohol.
3. Clean the effected surface with Klasse All-In-One or Zaino Z-PC Fusion Dual Action Paint Cleaner
4. Use detailing clay to remove any `hard' surface granules
5. Use a machine polish (Optimum Polish, Optimum Compound) and a cutting (LC White, Orange or Yellow) foam pad (speed # 4- 5.0) to level the surface
6. For Ceramiclear or other hard clear coats substitute Menzerna for machine polish;
Super Intensive Polish / Nano Polish (105FF) or Final Finish Polish (106FA) Use the least aggressive polish/foam pad first, if this doesn’t remove the problem step-up to a more aggressive polish / foam pad set-up
7. Wet-sand with 2000, 2500 or 3000 grit finishing paper

as offered above ... when waterspots are present the line of attack starts with vinegar wipe down, moving to polishing as needed, and sometimes wetsanding. Some chemicals can etch paint quite quickly and sun seems to increase it happening.

I ordered some DP water spot remover. Can I will use that instead of the vineger? It is coming tommorow.
My revised plan is,
a. DP water spot remover
b. poorboys w/ 4in white pad
c. menz FP or 106 w/ 4in white pad

Sound ok?

Oh, and thanks alot TOGWT, that was exacly the info I wanted.
