Who here uses uniforms? I was thinking of some UnderArmour type stuff with business logo. Thoughts?

I've got a couple t - shirts for right now. I'm going to get some embroidered polos soon. I love wearing polos and they look a little more professional but still casual enough to detail in. They definitely look better with khakis when you go to networking meetings.

My shirts are 50/50 cotton/poly blend. I might try a preformance one down the road since I own a couple heat and cold gear ones and love them.

Only problem I see with preformance shirts is them pulling up on you and exposing your belt and scratching the car your detailing. Plus if you don't wash them right they can smell worse than you do.

I don't like to wear aprons, at least not normally.

So for me, I want either a soft cotton t-shirt or a polo shirt because sooner or later you have to lean against things like front fenders to reach the back, middle of a hood and I don't want my belt loops touching the paint. (I never wear a normal pants belt when detailing a car).

In my last two how-to books, the Complete Guide to a Show Car Shine and the Flex 301 books, I recommend knocking out panels like the roof and hood and even the trunk lid all the way from start to finish before starting the vertical panels.

Why?

So you don't correct a fender and then lean on it to do the next step of the hood and accidentally mar the paint on the fender.

An extra precaution. Not so important for many of today's compact cars but for large vehicles sooner or latter you're going to have to lean against the vehicle to reach out and tackle the middle back of the hood and sometimes roofs and trunk lids.

For our TV show Competition Ready, AJ and I will be in polo shirts and my team will be in Competition Ready t-shirts.

Uniforms give good image but don't make you more money .so don't go crazy broke keep it simple tee shirts with a company logo that's it been there done that.

I have printed tees and baseball caps that I wear to all of my jobs (and estimates if necessary). Looks professional and you're not beating up your personal clothing.

I wear printed t-shirts while i work and printed mechanics shirt for quotes and events/car shows. i'm personally don't like wearing polos (purely personal issue, i think they look better than mechanics shirts)

Yes get shirts!

Looking professional is part of being a professional!

Get some "high tech" shirts that wick away moisture.
Your local print shop has them. You can also order online and get only one shirt or as many as you need.
