Universal Dispenser Pump

Does anyone else have an issue with the fit of the universal dispenser pump sold for the gallon jugs of product? Namely working with the Meguiar's gallons.

None of my pumps fit any of my gallons securely, looking like they are completely different threads on the gallon mouth and the pump cap. They can be forced on, cock-eyed, and they work ok, but if one of these tips over, it's going to be a massive mess.

Do these fit other brand's gallon jugs better?

I don't that particular pump, but do have gallon pumps that all seem to work well on all/any gallon container (including all of my Meguiar's stuff).

The thread pattern is almost a world wide standard. Maybe the one you have has a bad spot on the lid part. Possible something on the containers themselves too.

I figured that they were truly universal, but 4 gallons, 4 pumps... all wonky.

Now that you mention it, I wonder if the impossible-to-remove-completely foil seal on the lips might be running interference on the pumps.

Hmmm, the foil...ya know THAT maybe could be the culprit.

I do take pains to completely remove it...use a small X-Acto knife to scrape it (the foil) off. Not to insure a good fit, just to be sure no foil get onto the product.

One more idea...you have any old gallon lids laying around? Not ones that came off what you are trying to fit to...anyway, give them a twist and see if they fit correctly. That way, you may have narrowed down the problem, Pump vs Container.

There are three fairly common thread patterns

Look at US Plastics for good deals on items that AGO does not offer

If AGO stocks the item...I suggest you purchase it from AGO regardless of any price differential
