Hi, im startign a mobile detailing business soon and am in the process of choosing everything i need to buy. i want to buy this extractor:

EDIC: Bravo - 1/2 Vacs - 55psi - Deluxe Tool - With Handle - No Heat 2 Gallon [237BH] - Auto Detail Machines and Extractors - Auto Detailing & Car Washing

along with a bucket heater (about $40), so ill heat my water in a bucket for about 10mins and then pour it into the extractor.

my question is, can you use an extractor solely as a vaccum cleaner? this extractor has vacuum only, and vacuum and fluid pump switches.

i was going to buy a ridgid wet/dry vac to vacuum the interior before i use the extractor, but if i can use the extractor solely as a vacuum cleaner i wont have to buy the wet/dry vac.

It is probably best to as the manufacturer about using this machine as a vacuum. My personal thought is using as a vacuum, if okay, would be inconvenient sine you would need to cconvertbetween the two processes frequently. For a vacuum, consider the Kobalt wall mount recently discuses here. It is available at Lowes, $99.

Carpet extractors are used to effectively remove dirt, grime and stains from carpeted areas.

I think it would be a problem since typical extractors don't have the type of filtering system needed to vacuum dry.

A good shop vac is like $100...don't F-up your extractor because you don't want to spend $100.00

I wouldnt use the extracter as a vacuum/extracter as an AIO solution. The extracter dosent have the filtering capability to pull up dry materials. It is designed more for use as its intended.

I'm not sure about other extractors by my Durrmaid has a filter bag about the size of a bag of baseball game peanuts. Doesn't hold much but mainly there to trap debris and keep it out of the system.
