I'm not really a -brush- guy when it comes down to the interiors.....However, I was quite surprised 2 spritzes of product in a brush was more than adequalty enough to lather up a steering wheel.

I for sure use up alot more when I'm just spritzing into a MF and doing a wipe

Have I been doing it wrong all this time

Do you really need all that lather on the interior especially on control laden steering wheel

No lather but I literally only needed like 1 1/2 trigger sprays of product on the brush to lather and clean it up.

In my normal steering wheel routing *I'm spraying into MF and then doing wipe Downs* and I for sure am easily doing at least 8-10 spritzes at minimum. Moreso as I'm priming new clean dry MF -quarters- as I wipe each quadrant:section of the steering wheel.

In this *new to me method* of brush lathering....which I rarely do, was just surprised I needed that little product for the same goal of cleaning the same part.

How dirty is the steering wheel and how wet are you getting it normally?

Even when the steering wheels in my cars are at their dirtiest, I normally only use 3~4 sprays (2-ish for each half of the wheel) of an APC into a MF towel. If I'm just doing a routine wipedown and not a deep clean 1~2 sprays of the interior detailer is all I need.

I'm with Bunky on the foam. I wouldn't mind the foam on the seating surfaces, but not sure I'd want foam anywhere it could drip or run into electronics.

I'm a bit obsessive with the SW. I may use 3 towels even if I'm doing a wipedown with folded quadrants.....In my mind, I'm trying to minimize spreading hand oils that end up on the towel so I may be using more towels than the -norm-.......

SW is clean - dailys ....it's not your yooooouu-tube foam level cleaning.......2 spritzes into the brush and I was just surprised I got full coverage via the -brush lather method-. Using MF, I for sure am easily using at least 4-5X more product.....just due to technique

By its very nature, microfiber is highly absorbent, which would explain why you need more product to be effective. Whereas brushes hold the product between the mass of bristles rather than absorbing it, which can sometimes means longer working times.

In terms of "foam" being used on a steering wheel, its beneficial in that it tends to keep the product in place, which can be tricky on a vertical surface like a steering wheel. You also have a little more control on where the cleaner goes, ie not drenching buttons.

Brush vs towel, that would just depend on what level of grime you are dealing with. For example, on my well maintained cars, I spray cleaner into a towel and wipe. But on other cars, that method isn't very effective, so that's when a brush and some foam become handy. Just another method and skill up my sleeve.

On the topic, have you used brushes for tire dressing too? I've been using them almost exclusively for about 4 years now. It keeps my hands clean, and seems to provide a more consistent finish, almost negating the need for a knock down wipe later on. On those heavily patterned SUV/truck tires, brushes get into all of the grooves much better.

I knew the 'fiber was priming/taking more product....I suppose with the Steering Wheel, I feel like I'm chasing the 2% like we all are when it comes down to auto detailing stuff. Steering wheel is clean.....just trying to get it to the brand new uber flat black shine....I don't want to go overboard as too much scrubbing or chems IMO can potentially accelerate the dye on it. I've been down the road back in the days with a steamer wand,......and haven't even used my Dupray when I was doing test spots on other stuff like vinyl where if you one was not observant, I swear there was a slight subtle color shift to be seen
