Can I use an OTC lube like Megs Quick Detailer, or even just gold class and water with the fine and medium sponge?

I dont see why not.

for a gallon of QD for cheep find turtle wax rinseless wash. the normal mix that people on here have decided is good is 1 bottle dumped into a gallon container (milk jug) and top off with distilled water. for clay lube 1/2 to one gallon. I have found that actually for the qd I get away with 3/4 of the bottle to a gallon still works really good. and you can find it at wall marts and a few other places about 8 bucks a bottle.

As for the car wash yep i have seen AMMO do it also. just don't use any with wax in it, just straight suds.

ONR, Glide, or UWW+ are all extremely economical at clay lube dilution.

I use Ultima Waterless Concentrate Wash as lube and wash. Great stuff and cost effective.

I have a hunch that a lot of people experience marring bc of Nanoskin from not using their lube made for Nanoskin.

I say this because there are 2 dilutions for Nanoskin Glide one for traditional clay and a more potent dilution for auto scrub. I have not experienced any marring when using Nanoskin Glide as lube.

I use Pinnacle Rinseless wash w/carnauba with a heavier dilution ratio and it is my Go to for using the Nanoskin Bar. No issues at all

great point

I like using ONR at a little less than QD strength.

I go along with JHL88 and asalesagent912. From personal experience, using Glide and Nanoskin fine/medium pads on a PC, I have yet to see any marring of paint on the 4 cars that I've done recently.

I've used the meguiars last touch detail spray and it seems to work quite well with the nanoskin fine sponge. It actually got rid of some of the small residue on black paint that not even regular clay or goo gone was able to remove...

Based on reading this thread though I may in fact consider trying the nanoskin glide as lube for claying with it.

Wonder have any of you tested the meguiars last touch to the nanoskin lube side by side to see if there was any marring? Especially on dark colored cars for me like black and others because I detail quite a few dark vehicles.

use the search engine
some use 50/50 some use whole bottle to a gallon of water, some less. still like AI said the TWNR is right at wall mart.

Have any of you used the nanskin glide?

The blue bottle one I was told is specifically made for claying with the nanoskin.

For those of you that use it, what dilution ratio do you use so you don't go through the bottle extremely fast while still allowing for plenty of lubricity for less chance of marring the paint?

Was going to ask similarly. I just unboxed a refill order and grabbed a tub of Meg's Medium clay, though I'm still tempted to try the NanoSkin Medium pad on my PC. But I have a gallon of ONR, a gallon of #34 Final Inspection and several other bottles of QD. At this point I don't see how I couldn't use one of them instead of yet another dish soap lube added to the collection.

is the Glide a newer version of the Smooth instant detail spray?

great point
It strikes me strange, that we will shell out the money for a NanoSkin towel or sponge and yet skimp by not using their lube. If I am going to take the time to go over the car with a NanoSkin scrub, I am not going to take any chances by using something other than their recommended Lube. Their lube calls for a different dilution rate for the NanoSkin Scrum than it does for regular clay there may be a question of dilution rates for different lubes when used with NanoSkin Scrubs...if it is even listed?

"Shell out the money" is somewhat disingenuous, if the pad or sponge can do upwards of fifty cars I'd say it's quite substantially cheaper per car than any name-brand clay I've used. Hence the questions.

I already own gallons of lube, QD, or WW concentrate. If part of the equation in a production detail is saving time = more profit, then asking if one can use an already-purchased and probably extremely similar product instead of having to "shell out the money" for yet another unitasker is a worthy question.

Their dilution rate for use with a NanoSkin Scrub is " 7 to 1 " Do the math. using a 28 oz spray bottle, put in 24.5 oz of water then pour in 3.5 oz of the lube. Do it in that order so it doesn't foam up on you while filling the bottle. I just did a mid size SUV with less than a full bottle. IMO...you have two conflicting thoughts. On one hand you are concerned about how much to use BUT on the other hand want plenty of lubricity to reduce the chance of marring. IF...I had used an entire bottle and not had any marring, I still would have been pleased :) Also there is a different dilution rate listed for use with regular clay. Believe it's 10 to 1. That tells me that the NanoScrub system requires a lube with greater lubricity than regular clay. I'll stay with the NanoSkin Lube and dilute it correctly if I am going to use their scrum...My opinion.
