Hey guys, just wondering..............Say i go through the motions and i use the SIP, then after that, i take a look at the paint and see that there are still some marks that didnt come out. My question is,,, should i just proceed to the Nano polish the come back, or can i just go ahead and do the SIP again.
Basically, can i do the SIP two times back to back ?

I know that sounds like a weird question, but i always am critical about my work hahha

Check your work, if it isn't doing the job go to a higher cut polish or change the pad. Why do the whole car then look at the results? You are making the job harder doing things twice. To answer your question, you can polish it as many times as you like, back to back with SIP. Just use the right polish and pad for the job and save yourself alot of time and work.

Polish as many times with SIP as it takes or step up to a strong pad or polish then move to nano. Nano is meant to remove fine swirls or holograming left by a stronger polish so it wont remove deeper defect.

I would recommend doing what the others have stated and start with a test spot. I generally pick a spot on the car with the worse swirling. In your case, you would use SIP on that spot, wipe off the left over polish then observe how well it did. If SIP did little to the paint marring, there is no since in doing the entire car with SIP. You would try a stronger combination of pad and polish and see if that gets the marring out. If so, complete the entire car, if not, keep moving up in stronger combination.

If using SIP gets most of the marring out, give SIP one more try and see if two hit of SIP removes the marring.

Hey i know this is kinda off topic on this thread, but once i put a sealent on, how long should i wait before i apply a wax. I have 4-star sealent, and it says that you shouldnt even put a second coat of sealent on until 24 hours. Does the same apply for a wax too??

That is correct.

Hey thats good, i just wanted to make sure. You posted that just at the right time because i just finished my hood and was wondering wat i should do next. Also, im going to do a layer of sealent then a carnauba, does that in any way(the sealent) take away from the shine of the carnauba?? Or do you recomend just doing the carnauba and not the sealent?

Depends on the sealant and wax. Most sealants will give you a hard candy shine and nubas will give you a rich glow. A lot has to do with the color of your paint. Some will use both a sealant and wax.

Well if this helps the sealent is 4-Star, and the wax is Pinnacle Sig Series II. The car is a black metallica pearl.

just so you know....

optimum's opti-seal has no such restrictions. i've discussed this with david ghoudassi at optimum and he claims very little 'cure' time. he also said that you can go right over his sealant with as many applications of sealant as you want (but this according to him is not necessary), or, with a low solvent content paste wax or his spray wax and enjoy the benefits of carnauba, but with the long lasting ultra protection of sealant.

just a heads up ; )

ohhh that sounds nice!!! i really do love the 4-star, just the only problem is the time(like you mentioned above), but maybe after empty this bottle, i may just go ahead and place an order for the opti-seal. I appreciate the advice Builthatch. My friend wanted both seal and wax after polish, but i kinda made him choose one or the other because of curing time.
