So my wife, her brother, and myself got tickets to see Van Halen in Hershey PA. We arrive after an hour and a half drive...Concert is cancelled! Apparently the band never showed up; no warning just never came. So we are now fighting a million people to get a chocolate bar... I feel bad for the people with campers from other states that were in the parking lot. Very professional, Van Halen!

That stinks.

Maybe their hoverounds broke down?

From their website:

Due to David Lee Roth suffering from the flu and the doctor recommending he rest his throat, Van Halen's concert tonight (8/23) at Hersheypark Stadium has been cancelled.

Refunds will be available at point of purchase

We found that out later in the evening, the workers at Hershey just kept saying they didn't show up, they weren't given any reason. It seemed like saying he had the flu would have calmed more people down. The chocolate world was overrun by Van Halen fans though. Overall an enjoyable night.

That stinks the way that went down for you. Being a guitarist, I have to go see Eddie in Palm Beach or Tampa.

I saw them when they passed through Chicago. I thought they were really great, and it was nice to hear old those great tunes live.

That sucks! Alex is one of my all time favorite drummers...

I remember going to a concert and finding out at the last minute that the performance was not quite going on a scheduled.
The singer had to have a tooth pulled and couldn't sing.
So the band decided to go on anyway and let fans come up and sing.
And they were going to refund all the tickets anyway.
Now that was a class act.

Seen them the original band at the spectrum in Philadelphia their first time in philly. Have Van Halen 2 signed by the band, that is a bummer just don't think it would be the same as their hey day.

It would have been nice to see them, but I agree they might not be as good as when they were in their prime. We were just thinking this would be their last tour and would be nice to see them, but life goes on and I went on the Chocolate World ride, overall it was a good night.

Judging from the live videos I've seen lately you're better off with the refund.

Last time I saw Van Halen was the "June Jam"
at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, NC on June 2, 1979.

Great outdoor concert!
Boston, Poco and The Outlaws performed as well.

Last time I saw Van Halen it was for the For UnlawfuI Carnal Knowledge tour, opening act was Alice in Chains. This was a great concert, they sounded great.

IMO though, Dave....time to "Hang em High".

Sucks to be sure. On the other hand they are only human and things can go wrong. Looks like there was a communication problem with the venue. I would not hold the band in contempt because the singer was sick. It's amazing that these guys can give performances day after day and hardly ever have to cancel a show. Must take quite a toll to perform at that level every day, not to mention the stress off public performance.

Sorry you could not watch the show, I would be pissed too.
