I have read several threads, but none involve stuff this bad looking.

Original emblems on my 1988 560sl. Hard as rock. Where do I start with this?

Heat gun. Plastic scraper (old credit card). Patience. Clean residue with WD40.

Hair dryer to heat.
Plastic razor blades to remove.
Goo gone for leftover residue.

I hope your planning to replace them cause you may have a shadow from the old emblems after removing.

Plastic razor blade to remove bulk of glue then brake cleaner to remove the residue. Brake cleaner wont hurt the paint , removes glue residue easily.

I would heat it up with a heat gun and then gently use a plastic razor blade to get at the glue. Once down to the glue 3M Adhesive remover or the equivalent. It will take awhile for the remover to soften the old stuff so be patient and let it dwell (keep it moist).

Unscrew it from underneath trunk lid 2 screws still looks like the bracket 560 sl is still there. If not make sure that paint system is not single stage before you start apply chemicals to it.I worked at a mb dealer for 9 years for some reason or another I think is ss paint,I could be wrong.
