Vinyl Wrapping Application Questions

Hey all,

So I'm attempting my first vinyl wrap job on some trip pieces of my Audi S4. I was curious as to what you all would recommend to use as a lubricant to spray on the trim before applying the vinyl to make aligning it easier.

I didn't buy any of the application spray since I figured I one of my detail products would work. I was thinking someone like clay lube or detail spray (Griot's speed shine) would be good. Any input from those who have vinyl wrapped before?

I've wrapped a few vehicle roofs before, and also some interior trim pieces on some vehicles. I've never used any sort of lubricant for the process. Only used a heat gun/hairdryer and an application squeegee of some sort to get air bubbles out.

My process was to peel some of the backing off the vinyl, align the portion with the roof/trim piece, and then gently lay it down. Recheck alignment. If the alignment was good then I pushed the wrap firmly down with the applicator. If I needed to readjust I'd just lift the wrap up and readjust. Never had any issues.

Search on youtube for some videos, it will help to nail down the steps you should use.

Sounds good. That's what I had planned to do but had seen some application sprays like the guys who do PPFs use so they can slide the vinyl around some before aligning it. Sounds like I won't have much of a problem.

Yeah I don't think you'll have a problem. It will go even faster if you have a second set of hands to help, depending on the size of what you're wrapping.

I was also thinking if wrapping the roof of my range rover sport, but not sure what color/pattern to go with since the vehicle itself is black.

It'll only be me. I'm doing my window trim so shouldn't be too bad. I'll be wrapping my brother's roof on his e91 328i though later this summer and luckily he'll be helping me with that one!
