What type of results do you usually see when drying with a waffle weave and what techniques do you all use?

I tend not to get good results whether I drag the waffle weave along the car or apply the pressure. It never seems to 'soak' up all the water, rather it leaves a film of water everywhere. It can take me 5 to 10 passes to dry a small to medium sized area. Is that normal?

I have been very careful never to wash with fabric softener as I know this will damage the waffle weaves ability to absorb.

Thanks! :awesome:

I usually fold my guzzler up once or twice and swipe it very gently. I also spritz the area with a bit of QD before making a pass, seems to help lubricate and leave a nice shine. It's also known to help diminish/reduce water spots. In any case, I've never had to dry TONS of water to dry because of taking the nossle off the hose and letting the water sheet off. Maybe that's not too much help, have you tried blotting?

Unfortunatly the sheeting method is not available to me. I have to use the self serivce bays at night and hand wash my car. So all I have to rinse with is the pressure washer they provide.

that's something I've been meaning to try with the QD quirt. I don't want to use something that will streak though with the water.

I just take a MF or two and wipe the whole surface down and then let it dry on its own atleast theres no big water spots drying on my vehicle.

That doesn't sound like the way it should work. Mine picks up all water quickly. It seems to get better the more it's washed. I wash mine in Woolite warm/cold setting, plus I put some white vinegar in the washing machines slot for other stuff. The vinegar is a trick that I read here. It's a little acidic and is suppose to help break up grease in the tight weave.

Micro Restore does the trick too. Should I still do a vinegar wash?

what i do everytime is go over the car with the guzzler .get most of the water off. then i go over the whole car with a detail spray and another microfiber towel. this way all the water spots are gone and im left with a nice shine!!!:o

My waffle weaves pick up water great and never streaks. Lately I have been using an electric leaf blower with it. The blower probably blows off about 75% of the water before I even touch it with the waffle weave. When I'm done drying the towel it's only a little damp.

I have never experience the problem your having even before using the leaf blower. Maybe it's the type of soap you use. Do you dry it all the way in a dryer on high heat?

I use DP Pad Rejuvenator to wash all my MF including the waffle weave. When I drying I place them in the dryer on the low heat setting.

Yea I thouhgt something was wrong, bc its almost like the waffle weave repels the water, rather than soaking it up. After time the water will eventually permeate into the weave, but its not an instant action as I would expect.
