I typically soap and wash my entire car (either via the TBM, a foam gun, or combination of both), then rinse and dry.

Do you guys think this is better than washing/rinsing one section at a time and drying after all sections are done?

I 'suspect' it is easier to remove dried 'soapy' spots with a strong rinse (and possible follow up swipe with my tusty Cobra MF mitt) than dried 'water' spots (no soap) from my hose had I rinsed section-by-section with out drying until the very end.

This was tough to explain - hopefully it's clear.

I've tried to wash, rinse, dry each section at a time before. It takes a long time as the dried sections inevitably get wet again. On the other hand I had no water spots to deal with after.

The rule of thumb is to wash only as much of the car as you can with out the soap drying. Just before its starts to dry, grab the hose and rinse off the soap, then wet the other panels and continue on with what's remaining ... repeat if necessary.

I have been rinsing less and less (meaning washing more of the car before washing) and have not had any issue with soap drying on paint any more than the risk of getting water spots but I always wash in the shade in the morning or evening. The soap rinses off -- water spots do not.

For example, initial rinse, tires with dedicated bucket and rinse each, wash upper surfaces, rinse, wash side/rear or front, rinse then other side.

I simply wash wheels/tires/wheel wells, then rinse with pressure washer, wash the entire car top down, then rinse and dry. No water spots to report even when washing in the sun.

I just keep spraying the car while washing to prevent water spots.

I will foam the entire car. Then rinse it off, taking most of the dirt with it. Then two bucket wash the entire car. But rinse each section after washing it. And spray the entire car each time to keep it all wet. Then, after finishing washing the entire car, and rinsing it again, it gets a final rinse from my filtered water supply.
Then dried.
With the hot sun and summer heat here in Los Angeles I either have to keep rinsing, or wash at night. At which time the mosquitoes would kill me.
