I just want some feedback on your favorite methods of washing a car. What do you use? Mitt or chamois....sponge maybe?

Sheep Skin/Wool Wash Mitt or Microfiber Wash Mitt.

... isn't a chamois a product that some people use for drying, not washing?

I prefer a microfiber wash mit. I found it easier to clean/rinse then the shaggy wool type ones.

Microfiber covered foam wash mitt. I mostly do ONR washes.

Chamois is designed for drying, not washing.

I have microfiber wash mitts. Sometimes I'll use my boars hair brushes but lately been preferring the mitts because you can use some pressure.

Montana boars hair brush & blow dry.

Large Natural Sea Wool Sponge - very soft when wet, holds a ton of soapy water, pulls in dirt away from paint, releases dirt effectively into the rinse water and last a long time - everything you need.

I used microfiber mitts in the past but found it difficult to get the mf to release the dirt picked up off the car, even using the grit guard. So when the car was fairly dirty I would end up with some swirls. I don't have that problem with the sea sponge. There are a bit more expensive than the average mitt or sponge, but well worth it if you don't want swirl marks.

Here is the one I prefer - Sea Wool Sponge

I meant to explain myself about this post. I was working with this guy and he pulled out this chamois looking thing. I was like, why are you using that to wash a car. Why not a mitt? What he had was like a mitt but kind of like a hybrid between a mitt and chamois. Looked weird but did wonders on the wash. I just asking to see if anyone had ever seen one like it

Chamois are dangerous for the paint. They have no ability to absorb dust or dust so if any is present (which will always be the case during the wash) the chamois will rub that dirt against the paint and create scratches and maring. I would never use it to dry a car and I think it's totally insane to use it to wash!

I use Microfiber/"Micro-chenille" & Sheepskin/Wool
