i have 2 sets...one for paint and one for wheels, doorjams and dirty parts....
i store them seperately in diff containers but......

how do you wash them? seperate or together?
how often do you wash your towels?
do you let them pile up till you have enough for a load? wont this let the product dry up and make it harder to get out? (if this is the case i assume you have a seperate box to store the dirty towels till its ready to be washed?)

how many towels do you use on a typical car? 4? 6? more? I've always wondered this one <----

please be as specific as possible....i need details! Feed back please

I wash them together with a wash product designed for MF towels. There has never been a problem whatsoever.

I wash them all together with vinegar and either Pinnacle MicroRejuvenator or MicroRestore.

I generally wash them right after I use them, which will usually end up being 4 for the paint, 1 waffle weave for the windows and another 1 or 2 guzzlers. So, all in all, I use roughly 7 MFs every wash/wax.

On a QD day, its usually only 2 or so, but nevertheless, the dollar that it takes to wash them is well worth not letting the crap cake onto and dry in my MFs. JMO.

I never wash my grunge towels with my paint towels.I take the time to keep them seperated prior to washing then wash seperate..my grunge towels always get a few OZs of APC added to the wash ...if there really dirty i pre- soak first..every few washes i'll use MF rejuvenator..

i'm not saying how others wash is wrong..i just dont like my paint towels in the mix with my grunge towels.

i use as many towels as it takes for the job at hand..usually 2 for glass..2 WW's one for the upper panels the 2nd for the lower panels. 2-3 towels for my wheels ..2-3 MFs when i'm QDing ..2-for the interior panels

We seperate by dirty work, polish/wax, protectants and drying. We will use about a dozen towels per bike.

I wash them all togher using Woolite Original no problems what so ever. Some day I'll try Charlies Soap heard it's great for mf and normal luandry duty.

I use microfiber detergent for the paint towels, and wash them seperately from other microfibers. The wheel microfibers and door jam microfibers, well any microfiber that gets the really dirty places get washed by some other household detergent. I make sure if its powder detergent that it's dissolved by hot water, and I just wash them in a bucket so the washer doesn't get any crud.

my paint towels i wash all the time...and i use one mf towel per car that i start with the door jambs, then the wheels, then the final engine wipedown...then i throw it away...i use a cheapie costco mf towel for this purpose...no biggie as they are less than 50 cents each...

i dont see how u can throw away a towel just like that hahaha

I separate the paint towels from the underbody/wheel towels. I just don't want to take that chance of the potential of getting an embedded particle that may float away from the grungy set to the pristine paint set. I store my paint and underbody towels separately. In addition, I put them in different containers prior to doing a batch of towels - white container for paint, black container for the grungy set. That's the problem and advantage of MF's. They do a good job of trapping dust particles inside their fibers. I want the peace of mind, when I use my paint towels, they are as pristine as can be. If you look at your grungy set, at least for me, I do see embedded particles. If it's too nasty, I throw them away. Just look real carefully and spot the particles. Once spotted, try removing them with your fingernail. Most of the time, it's next to impossible. I really have 3 categories; paint, underbody/wheel wells, door jams/wheels. All are separate and all 3 washed separetly. If you want to have a swirl free car, you need to organize your operation like a "clean room".

Oh jeeeze, just on an outside of a car I will use probably close to 10-15 MF towels to prevent cross contamination (it sucks when you put a compounding towel on a car to wipe off/buff a finishing wax/polish...lol). I put them in the washing machine right when I'm finished detailing. This makes sure that the products in the fibers don't have much of a chance of cake up. I wash on hot water with regular old detergent. MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT USE A FABRIC SOFTENER.

I wash my towels on a warm cycle with two rinses. Just a bit of Woolite and they look great. I don't really have "grunge" towels so everything goes in the same batch.

I tend to use MF for my paint, both exterior and door trim. I hold them over 1 weekend. I use old terry cloth towekls for my wheels and anything under the car. Also, hold them over 1 weekend. Two washes (as I do separate MF from the terrys) twice a month. I can't justify 2 washes of 3-5 towels every weekend, it's crazy. I throw in all MFs together- glass, guzzler, interior, exteriour buffer and indigo.
