Do you guys wash your really dirty microfiber cloths with brake dust, wax residue or embedded dirt together with your 'çleaner' microfiber cloths that aren't heavily soiled?

I've always pre-treated and lightly hand washed all my microfibers after using them and storing them in a separate 'dirty' before doing a big load. I'm worried that if I don't hand wash them with water to get the embedded dirt or brake dust out then it'll contaminate all my other microfibers when it's in the wash.

Is this fear misplaced? Does it matter if I pre-treat or hand wash them prior to the washing machine? Am I just wasting more water than I have to?

Thanks guys.

Your fears are perfectly valid. Exactly the reason why I use cheap yellow colored towels from a certain bulk warehouse store on wheels and tires and throw them away. I don't want them contaminating my other towels let alone my washing machine. My usual routine is using one towel soaked in rinseless wash on door jambs then dry with another towel. Then use the same towels on the wheels then in the garbage. They are literally black when I'm done with them.

same here I don't invest in quality micros. For 9.98 at Home Depot is where I get mine for Ferrari and sensitive paint I will just get a couple at ag.

Like GSKR stated, I get cheapo MF's and use them for wheels, then wheel wells, then finally for tire cleaning.

After that, they're in the trash.

Any reason not to use cheap cotton shop towels for the same uses? Can find them 50/$10.
