We have some robins nesting in our yard, so I setup a webcam and live feed, I think it is really interesting to watch them grow up! They are about a week old at this point, so they will likely be gone in another 4-5 days.

It seems like they get fed about every 5 minutes at this point, they get very excited when one of the parents comes back to the nest with food.

You can watch the live here:
Robin Camera on USTREAM: The Robin eggs have hatched, and the babies are about a week old at this point. Only 1 more week and they will be gone from the n...

Here is a picture when they had just hatched:

That's cool. I tuned in just in time to see one of the parents come back to feed em.

Thanks for sharing...nature and nurturing...awesome.

From the looks of the pics, you now you get to think about six territorial birds crapping around you, your homestead, vehicles, family and friends, instead of two! :D

Great idea. Pretty cool. :props:

Have you been watching the Eagle cam near Dubuque? I take a look off and on but I know of people who are hooked.

That's where I got the idea from. We have had robins nest at our house for the past 5 years or so, and after the Decorah eagle cam I thought to myself "That would be neat to do as well".

It is a lot of fun to watch :)

Fortunately our cars spend almost all of their time in the garage, so I am not worried about bird bombs.

Great idea! It's very pleasant to watch. Do the baby Robins always leave their beaks open?

Also, how were you able to set up a camera so close? Good thing the parents didn't attack you.

Hey Bill,

I am always amazed at how far this technology has come and always eager to sit and watch!!

Thanks buddy! :props:

They seem to expect that if they leave their beaks open that worms will fall into them.

I setup the webcam while the nest was being built, so that is not much of an issue.

As for the pictures I have been taking, I wait until the parents are gone from the yard, and I sneak in a few shots with a good lens. If I get a warning chirp from the parents, I take off and leave them alone. Really they are pretty tolerant of humans and build their nests in very close contact to them.

I am sick of the birds here. To the birds crapping on my deck. My deck is not your toliet! Oh and my bathroom exhaust outlet is not your home!

I'm thoroughly enjoying the show Bill! Thanks to you and your wife :dblthumb2:

No problem, glad you are enjoying!

Cute. Can't watch the webcam right now since it is too dark, but I will have to check back again when it is light outside. We had some baby cardinals trying to leave the nest a few weeks ago - mama and daddy were fretting over them like crazy. Here's a picture my mom took of one of the babies:

Because of the late spring arrivial here (lack of leaves on the trees), the robins were building nest(s) anywhere they could. We have one right in front of the kitchen window (in a bush). The kids hatched about 3-4 days ago.

Needless to say, fun to watch.

Bill

Shane - Great picture ...

I have a few new pictures to share as well:
