Hi! I recently detailed my car and did full polish/paint correction on it with M105/205. After that I used a reputable sealant (don't want to mention the brand) and the car looked great. Now a month a has gone by and a couple of washes later I see lots of water spots that didn't come off during the wash/soap.

I thought the sealant was meant to protect the paint from this happening? I feel like I didn't do much with the detailing since just a few weeks later it looks like it needs re-polishing. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

A sealant is never going to stop water spots. It will help protect the pain. But even coatings can suffer from spots if not maintained well. You're doing nothing wrong just wash more often and when t rains or gets wet wash it down.

Water spots affect all LSPs. I guess the point of a LSP is protect the clear coat. You can take some CarPro Spotless or Gyeon Water Spot or other types of water spot removers and try to see if you can chemically remove the water spots. If the water spots have etched into the clear coat, then you need to polish the car again.

The only way around water spots is to clean your car frequently every time it gets wet from rain or other uncontrollable sources of water. If you can, use distilled water or buy a system that removes the elements from the water when you do your own washing.

Wash your car at times of the day when it is coolest. Wash under cover - garage or canopy.

Thanks for the comments guys, I guess I had unrealistic expectations. I am washing my car more frequently than before (1-2 weeks) so it was discouraging to see all that work "rained away" :). It rains quite a bit in the NW where I live but there's no way I'll wash it more than weekly.

Thanks for all the advise!
